There is a reason for the 2 star review but first I want to start with the positive.
The salon and spa are beautiful and for the most part, the staff is very friendly. I was so happy that they were able to take my reservation last minute, I booked a bunch of services and they accommodated me. Their prices are also very reasonable.
Now for the important stuff:
My sister and I each spent about $200 for services at the salon and spa. As I stated above, I booked the appointments last minute the day before services. During our visit my sister and I learned that there were people who ran through the hotel the night before and threw an active fire extinguisher into the spa. (It just so happened that I was checking into the hotel when this was happening and saw the police walking out with a suspect in handcuffs, unknowing of why). Police were called but no action was taken against the people who did this. During our services, these people came back and aimed a toy gun into the salon while yelling profanities. Mind you, my young children were in the salon with me and they were very afraid and kept asking the owner if they were going to be safe. The owner locked the door. The manicurist ultimately told us that this has been ongoing in the hotel and the reason it keeps happening is because the hotel does not press charges or do anything to protect the shops and guests. The owner was terrified and the other staff were afraid as well. These are not conditions under which a salon and spa should be operating, especially since the purpose of these services is to relax.
After our appointment was over we were walking the hallway to go back to our room and the same people were in the hallway waiting for us to pass by so they could terrorize the salon yet again. Once we passed they proceeded towards the salon. At that point I decided that I cannot subject my children to this and we left the hotel since there were other concerning things I witnessed as well.
The next morning I called the salon to inform them that I left the hotel to head back home because I needed to remove my kids from all of the things that were going on in the hotel. I had a massage scheduled for the 10am so I would not be attending the appointment. The owner informed me that there would still be a cancellation fee of the cost of the service even though the circumstances I left under were legitimate and she understood the reason why I left. Keep in mind that this appointment was not booked 24 hours in advance so there would be no way to cancel 24 hours in advance. I warned her during the previous days services that I was probably going to leave due to the issues. During my call, the owner didn’t offer to refund any of the cost of services or anything, she was strictly about making her money and didn’t seem to care about the situation anymore.
In hind sight, the services were not great but the prices made it okay. It took 3.5 hours for my sister to get an acrylic fill, my eyebrows look weird, the manicurist who did my daughters mani only gave her 1 coat of paint and the polish didn’t cover her whole nails (kinda looks like a child did it), my sons pedi was great actually. I was willing to overlook these things because of the great prices. It wasn’t the relaxing experience I’d hoped for. I work 7 days a week and I’m tired, I just wanted to do something nice to take care of myself but unfortunately that didn’t happen. My trip was ruined. I was very disappointed when the worker said she wasn’t able to do my refill because she didn’t know how to. yet, offered to do my pedicure. Mind you the pedicure took 3 hours long.. 1 1/2 hours to take my polish off. Another 1 1/2 hours to paint a french tip on with no color to cover my natural nail remind you. As she’s doing my pedicure my toe nail broke & i asked her to glue my nail down & she said “she had no nail glue” she continued to do my toes. The lines didn’t come out straight at all. I had NO cuticles removed, NO calluses files down. NO nail glue. NOT EVEN A REAL PEDICURE DONE. she charged me 83$ for an unprofessional service. I was completely late to my dinner reservations which had to be canceled & I had to cook my own dinner. I cried all night. This was the most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had at a salon.
