The host who seated us was a nice older lady, didn't speak a word to us, just brought us to our seat - right next to the front door. The girl who brought us our water looked as though she hated her job - she didn't smile, and when she brought us a small basket of chips (I'm talking 20 chips) and salsa, there was only about 2 tablespoons of salsa in a bowl. She said, 'do you want more salsa' in a quite mono tone voice and I said 'sure' and again, she brought another bowl with about 2 tablespoons in it. We poured them into the same bowl and it didn't even fill it up half way.... okay, bad 1st impression. Their menu is like a novel - it is HUGE! about 10 pages in a 'book'. When our waiter came, I didn't even know where to look for drinks. I ended up ordering the jalapeno margarita, my husband got a beer, my oldest a kids margarita and my youngest a lemonade - the drinks took FOREVER to come, but they were good. The margarita was not spicy until the last couple sips, but it was still good. We ordered the queso to start off with. It came in a HUGE bowl, with, again, only about 20 chips. This was enough queso to feed 10 people, easily, and it was really good, but we had to ask for more chips. After we had finished the chips they provided, a girl came by, grabbed the plate and said I can take this - and I said "um, no, actually, can you bring us some more more chips, please' - the bowl of queso was almost completely full!!! I think their portions are way off. For our meals, my husband got the Molcajete - he really liked it, the sauce was DELICIOUS! I had the fish tacos - they were good, the sauce they serve with them was a spicy sour cream and I could have eaten that with everything on my plate! My youngest got the beef burrito - standard for a kids plate, although he was pretty sad that he didn't get any of the lettuce that everyone else got on their plates, and my oldest ordered a chicken and beef burrito - also a standard burrito. We also ordered a 'authentic' chile relleno, which was really really good! After placing our order, we did not see our waiter again until after our food came - about 30 minutes - and again, after he checked on us just a minute after getting our food, we did not see him again at all - we had to flag down a different waitress (who was VERY nice - the best employee we encountered the whole night!) for hot sauce, then boxes, and at that point, yet another waiter brought us our check, processed our credit card and told us to have a good night. In all the food was good, we had a ton of leftovers to take home, which made yummy breakfast burritos the following day - BUT their staff is not as attentive as they could be - if the staff had been better, I would have given 4 stars. AND their house margarita was...
Read moreI love the Mazatlan restraunt and have gone to all the locations for years. I had bragged about it to a friend who i went with. This was the first time ever that i was very dissapointed. I called after i returned home to say something. The Manager i spoke with said there was nothing he could do because i should have said something when i was at the restraunt. I was not asking for a refuns or replacement of the meal at all. He kept repeating himself over and over despite me saying, i did not want to complain while with a friend who went with me for the first time The food was not hot enough. The prices are high now and they give you very little amounts. If adding sour cream ir guacamoli it costs alot.. was served incredibly fast but it tasted like left overs warmed in a microwave. I ordered a margarita blended. It was terrible! Very watery. And WTH they now have 2 sizes? A small glass and a large one. I have never been asked that at the Mazatlan! Their salsa used to be incredible but even that has changed and i did not care for it. They bring you very few chips and Salsa now. Then when your eating they constantly come and stand around your area acting like they want to clean your table and get you gone! I have been going to the Auburn Mazatlan for 20 years and had huge family gatherings there i will now hesitate to go again. I am going to go next time to my original Mazatlan which is the Puyallup location and see how the food is at that location. The restraunts are each owned and operated by a group of brothers. I have a feeling that they are now alot older in age so they has passed the restraunts down to their adult children to run. Even their menues are awful so unprofessional looking and cant figure them out at all! And i spoke to my waiter and server in spanish saying Thank you. Not once did anyone respond in Spanish! Makes me sad because my children half huspanic. They went their as infants with my entire family to visit with Grand parents ect. And were there at 16 wearing huge sombreros together....
Read moreCame in for some lunch, it's a pretty spacious restaurant with a lot of seating. I liked the ceilings, there were cut outs that lifted giving the appearance of sky lights. Our server was really friendly and personable, prompt with taking our order and answering any questions we had. We had the chips, salsa and guac to start; their guac was very good but their salsa was so so. It had A LOT of onion in it and that was the predominant taste. I had the crab enchilada and my fiancé had the chilé verde and their food fell a little short of expectation. My enchiladas were good and so were the refried beans, but the rice was extremely bland and some of it was dry and crunchy. My fiancé wasn't happy with his dish, less so than mine. He said the portion was abysmally small given the high price of the dish and that the pork and sauce was lacking in flavor. His family owns a Mexican restaurant and he said the prices at this restaurant were about 30% more expensive, which he said would've been fine if the portion...
