In a city seemingly a stranger to good food and service, this restaurant stands out as a trailblazer, offering a dining concept unlike anything we’ve seen before. While the prices are higher than the local average, having a gem of this caliber in our backyard feels truly priceless.
A friend and I dined there tonight, and from the moment we stepped in, it was clear this place operates on a different level. The entire staff was exceptional—polite, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft. They knew the menu inside and out, which made navigating the array of dishes a breeze. The ambiance was equally impressive, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.
The drinks? Incredible. We sampled about 5 different cocktails, each more inventive and delicious than the last. Whether you’re a fan of bold flavors or something more subtle, their mixology game is unmatched, shout out to Adrian.
As for the food, I can’t say enough. Every single bite was a masterpiece. The dishes were so exquisitely crafted that I found myself melting in my seat, overwhelmed by the sheer joy of it. We ambitiously tackled nearly 40% of the menu, and each dish was a revelation. Chef Ito is an absolute genius, and it shows in every plate. My personal favorite was the Wagyu Nigiri—it was perfection in every sense. And the dessert, oh my god! I’ll leave it at that.
If you’re a foodie, this is a must-visit. I can’t recommend this...
Read moreI had really hoped that this would be my "go-to" sushi bar in the area. I was excited to find that the sushi chef was Japanese, and incorrectly thought that the quality would be outstanding.
We sat at the sushi bar. I had a conversation with John behind the counter. I asked him that when he received my order (you have to order with the waitstaff) to make sure that we received the coldest sushi they had. He agreed, and even informed our waiter. We ordered two beers and our sushi. It took 15 minutes for our beers to arrive, with no glass. When the sushi came, not only was it not cold, it was warm from sitting on warm rice. We had 5 orders of yellow tail, two orders of uni, one order of toro, and two beers. The bill came to $150.
We felt the service was slow, and that neither the sushi nor the atmosphere was of the caliber that warranted the price. We were very disappointed and will not return.
BTW, Printed on the check were our instructions requesting the sushi be served cold. Oh well.
Adding with this edit: I lived in Japan for many years and eaten at the best sushi restaurantsin the world, as well as sushi from the small stalls in Shinjuku. I know what good sushi is.
Chef Ito is no longer at 990 Broad. He was only there to get it started up...
Read moreIf you genuinely enjoy authentic Sushi and eat it regularly, then you know that finding a place to meet your expectations can be challenging. My wife, I, and her friends gave this place a try, hoping it would become our go-to replacement for sushi since our favorite place in Evans had to close (it was a Korean sushi place owned by an older couple). Unfortunately, a first glance at the menu pricing immediately made it evident that authenticity was disguised under high pricing. However, we decided to stay and give the benefit of the doubt.
As credit is due, the restaurant staff was fantastic. They could not have been friendlier, and they checked on our group numerous times throughout the meal. If the food and pricing matched the service, this place would be a solid 5-star establishment.
Our sushi was warm, and for the pricing, the serving sizes are not generous by any means. The expectation with the pricing is that this restaurant would be a level above some of our other, better-known sushi restaurants. But in comparison, the food is subpar. Hopefully, with time, this restaurant will add a level of "authenticity" to the sushi to match their service.
Again, if service alone made the food great, these folks would be knocking it out...
