It's 10/7/2019, and I'm amending this review (again). Going from 2 stars back to 5 stars--strictly for customer service.
I haven't had a chance to eat here again yet (hopefully next time will be better), but I can't say enough nice things about Mellow Mushroom's customer service. Yes, my last meal there was very disappointing, but this company actually seems to care about getting things right.
When their food is good it's really good, but I'll keep coming back, even after troubling experiences, because quality matters to them. And if something's not right they'll make every attempt to fix it.
I think this will be the last amendment to this review (fingers crossed). I only left the second, negative review because I did not initially get a response privately from the company. There was a reasonable explanation as to why, and I'm satisfied with the final resolution, so I'm comfortable leaving a 5-star review. The food is normally good, but if there is a problem I don't think I've ever dealt with a more responsive team. Of course, I hope I'll never have a bad meal there again, but life is long and humans are human so who knows. But as long as Mellow Mushroom continues to care about providing quality food AND quality customer service, they'll always be 5-stars in my book.
*"" I'm leaving my original (5 star) review below this one (I'll amend this one if I ever get a resolution).
I placed a delivery order tonight (9/13/2019) around 8PM. I ordered a medium thin crust pizza, a Greek salad and 10 Thai Chilli wings. I placed a similar, smaller order last week (which was very good) so I convinced a larger group of my family that we should get it again this week.
Bad idea.
First, instead of Thai Chilli Sauce, I received plain, burnt dry wings with no sauce. Second, the nice and crisp (yet still chewy) thin crust from last week was thicker and had a burnt taste. Also, the toppings weren't nice and evenly spaced so there were larger areas that had none of the toppings I ordered. Perhaps it was more difficult for them to scale from a small pizza to a medium size?
Either way, the wings were inedible. We ate the pizza just to put food in our stomachs, but it was not enjoyable. I'm so embarrassed that I pushed my family to join me in this meal. Very disappointing.
I placed a delivery order last night (6/11/2019) and had a few problems so I ended up contacting the manager last night around 8:55PM. Mellow Mushroom has a gem in this gentleman! I can't remember his name, but he was empathetic, kind and decisive in dealing with my issues. He told me what he would do to resolve the problems, and as of this afternoon, he more than fulfilled his promises. It is rare that a company stands not only behind the products they provide, but also behind the quality of the service they are giving to their customers. Mellow Mushroom makes excellent pizza, but if there is a problem they will go above and beyond to make sure their customers are satisfied. I will continue to be a repeat customer and Mellow Mushroom evangelist...
Read moreI’ve been to this location quite a few times, but this was my first time at the bar. I could tell a story, but you all could care less about that right? -Right. Let’s just say: “ A closed mouth don’t get fed in a restaurant.” I’m a pretty laid back person when it comes to food service. I noticed it was pretty busy, but quite a few open seats at the bar.
It didn’t take long to be noticed; but got no greeting or name (but I suppose that’s normal nowadays) she simply placed a menu in front of me and walked away-okay, that’s passable. A few minutes later she returns and asked what I’d like to drink. As I looked over the dinner menu I ordered my drink and she stepped away-I received my drink shortly afterward. She steps away again. At least 10 minutes went by after I placed my drink order while she tended and chatted with other customers.
It only took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted to eat. She passed by constantly without a word. Im aware they were busy, but it was too long to not be noticed to follow up if I wanted to order food. So I grabbed her attention to place my order. Her body language presented as if it was unexpected that I’d order something to eat. I ordered a 10pc wing and cheese bread from the appetizer section. The wings did not take long to arrive by another server.
NOT ONCE did she ask me if I needed anything, checked on me (to update me on when the bread was coming if at all) or anything of that nature while I was eating my food. The bread finally arrived 10+ min later. I spent at least 20 minutes or more at the bar while she checked on other customers before and after me providing elaborate service, conversation and attention. Clearly she didn’t care about me or my dollar.
I suppose when it looked like I was finished eating she then decides to ask if I needed anything. I simply asked for a box and the check since I decided to not eat the cheese bread. To top things off she leaves the bill where I have to overextend to reach as you see in the picture. I could have easily blown the paper and it would have gone right on the floor. I’m bringing this to light because Not only did she do that with the bill she also did that with the napkins. Yes, I’m being passively detailed because I’m sick of the poor service and careless attitudes representing food & beverage.
Would I come back? Maybe , but it definitely will not be at the bar when SHE is there. I still tipped 20% because you kill ppl with kindness. She needs to be re-educated on quality service. By the way, I read a couple recent reviews prior to my post and it’s apparent that the current manager could care less. So spend your...
Read moreI was torn between 3 and 4 stars but I am basing this review on my most recent visit so…
I will go ahead and say that both the restaurant, bathrooms, and visible food prep area all looked very clean at this location.
Food quality for price, I have to say it was worth it. In addition to that, this location has offered military discounts and an extremely good first responder discount (it was one day a week but you should definitely ask your waiter/waitress/bartender, it is a very appreciative gesture). We ordered a slice of pepperoni, a salad, a sandwich, and some cheese bread. All of which were good and I would order again.
Finally, customer service. We initially came in the wrong door (the Broad Street entrance is not the front door). We looked around and took a seat in a booth by the door when nobody said anything to us. I assumed that it was considered the bar area and one of the two bartenders would tend to us. I was wrong. After a minute or two (my uncle went to the bathroom, washed his hands, and returned to the table where we started talking). A waitress came up to us and told us we needed to go to the front door and be seated by the hostess. The hostess arrived momentarily, and sat us in the exact same booth we were just sitting in….. Our waitress came over and introduced herself and took our drink requests while we looked at the menu; she was very polite. When she returned with our drinks, we placed our order. This was a separate issue now. Our order to food delivery was 27 minutes. My uncle was in the food industry for a few decades and has always been OCD when we eat out after being a GM or running a restaurant for so long. He didn’t complain or get upset, but it did become the topic of our conversation for over 15 minutes. He started his stop watch after two patrons set two tables away and received their orders before us (they ordered sandwiches). We don’t know if the discrepancy was related with the ticket, the kitchen, the system, or the waitress. Now this was not the norm from observing everyone else around us, but a one of experience. However, this review is based on my personal experience from this visit.
I have been to this location before, and I will go there again in conclusion....
