My husband & I just left Carrabba's Italian Grill on S Abliene St in Aurora. The veal piccata was the worst I've ever had. It was tough and hard to chew. I normally cut veal with my fork but I had to saw through it with my steak knife. The pasta was over cooked, the salad was soggy with too much salad dressing. The entire experience was unpleasant from waiting about 5 minutes to be seated, even though I had made a reservation and we were the only customers in the restaurant at 11:30 on a Sunday. The hostess wanted to seat us right by the kitchen. That would have been alright if the restaurant was full but we were the only customers there. The kitchen hood equipment was loud, we asked to be seated by the windows. Where we were seated I had a view of the hostess stand. A couple came in and waited about 5 minutes before they left because no one came to seat them. Our waitress came to our table during that time, but obviously it wasn't her job, at most restaurants the waitress would have told the hostess that there were customers at the door. I've often seen waitresses seat people themselves to earn more tips, but not at this Carrabba's. There was a lady working by the pizza oven, facing the door who could have seen them, if she ever looked up. It's no wonder the business is struggling. Our waitress only cleared our salad plates other than that she brought fresh drinks but never cleared the table of empty glasses or plates. I had to go to someone at the bar to ask for my check and 5 minutes later I went to the bar again to pay the check because the waitress never came back to pick up my credit card so we could leave. We easily could have walked out without paying because no one was paying the least bit of attention to us. Three other tables were seated during our time at Carrabba's and of course the hostess seated the group of 4 right next us even though the restaurant was empty. That group of 4 also waited 5 minutes to be seated. The next table was an older couple, the man was in a wheelchair. The hostess just stood there while the woman had to move the chair so the man could get his wheelchair up to the table. That is an uneducated or just rude person, a nice or intelligent person would have helped the handicapped man or possibly thought it might be part of her job! Then they seated the next group of 3 right next to that couple. I'm sure that makes if easier for the waitress to have all her tables right next to each other, but it's not the best for the customers. We don't like having to talk over the volume of the other people. If you have room seat your customers a few tables apart. The hostess hasn't been trained very well or she just does it her way. We have been to this Carrabba's at least 20 times since it's been open, this was the worst experience we've ever had. My husband and I were celebrating our 31st anniversary. It was a special occasion for us. I was dressed in a fur coat and a sparkly white top. I had put on the reservation that it was our anniversary. I thought the hostess should have looked at the reservations to be aware of any special occasions since it's on their form. I thought by the way I was dressed an observant person would have asked if we were celebrating anything special, but not at this Carrabba's. Next time we'll go to Maggiano's for better service, better food and a much more pleasant experience. Nothing can ruin my anniversary because I'm married to a wonderful man, but this was a disappointing experience at best. It's no wonder this restaurant is struggling to survive....
Read moreI've been going to this place for years, and when I was a kid, the food had been genuinely spectacular. The food is always seasoned just right and tastes amazing. However, revisiting as an adult and after management changed, the food and service have changed as well. Sometimes the food is really good, other times I'm met with cold dishes and undercooked food. I generally order a steak, the lasagna, or the chicken trio. Every time I order a steak, I ask for medium rare. Every time without fail in the past 8 months, they have served me a blue or rare steak. This steak in the picture is after asking 2 separate times to take it back and cook it some more. After the second time, I was informed by the waitress that "this is how we do medium rare steaks here," and if I wanted it cooked more, I should ask for more well doneness. Now, I'm not an expert at cooking steak, and I will never claim to be, but steak doneness is pretty universal knowledge that should not change at all regardless of location or food type due to steak doneness being dependent on the temperature of the meat. I shouldn't have to ask for a steak to be cooked again more than once. They say they never change their recipes, but I have noticed many changes since I've been going there. The food is decent, and this restaurant is still a good place for an evening dinner. The service in them cooking my steaks wrong and serving my dishes cold have been an inconvenience not only to me but also to the staff, especially since this happens way more often than not. I want to keep coming back, but sometimes the service...
Read moreTook my daughter out for her birthday here last night on June 30th I have to say it was terrible customer service when we walked in the door. We were at the host stand for a good 3 to 4 minutes before we were greeted. Mind you they were not that busy for a Friday night. Then the host finally came up and said hi 3? I said yes. Then she ignored the fact that we were standing there waiting to be seated. She decided to help a waitress out getting her cut slip. Then proceeded to put a table on hold. Then she answered the phone. Again we were standing right in front of her. Then she told us that it's a 10 minute wait. Okay there was no one else in the lobby waiting for a table and we could clearly see a lot of tables empty and cleaned. Our waiter was Bobby he didn't listen to my daughters order for spaghetti. At the end of our order he asked if my daughter was okay? We were super confused why he would ask that. We get our food and there was no kids spaghetti that came. I felt so bad for my daughter because she had to wait almost 15 minutes for her plate. He did remember it was her birthday and brought out her Sundae. We also had to ask for refills on our drinks. The only reason why he got a tip was because of his personality. He knew he messed up and didn't charge us for the spaghetti. I don't know if I will go back here with the lack of customer service they provided. The food was delicious. Overall the experience was...
