This is my favorite ice cream in all of Austin as of right now. I have been to many ice cream places in Austin, some chains and some standalone shops, but nothing ever beats this particular location of Amy's Ice Cream for me. They always have such amazing choices to choose from every time I go and I am always super satisfied not having to get the same flavor every time I want to explore a new ice cream option while there. I do have my go to ice creams as well which aren't seasonal and always stocked so I love the reliability of Amy's as well to deliver me my usual or a unique/different choice. This location has parking which is heavenly cause I hate driving in Austin and it also offers indoor seating for anyone who is trying to just chill and hangout with friends while grabbing themselves a scoop or shake. The staff here is also super friendly and I have never personally experienced any issues with them. One thing I really like here as well is that they offer little daily trivia so that you can get ice cream as a reward. The questions are super hard however and i've never gotten one right, but its still worth a shot every time! Go ahead and try this place location of Amy's out when you are in Austin and are craving yourself...

I'll never forget the first time I tried Amy's Ice Cream. I remember walking in and they were playing the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (the original version). I went up to the counter and browsed their creatively drawn chalkboard menu. To my delight, most of the items were Willy Wonka themed!

The staff was really patient with me as my hand stroked the bottom of my chin, pondering on what flavors to get. After sampling plenty of unique flavors I knew instantly that my favorite was Mexican Vanilla. After telling the staff what I wanted, they went right to work.

Amy's doesn't just hand you your ice cream and say "Have a nice day"...no...they'll scoop out ginormous sized scoops, toss it in the air, mix the toppings you asked for, toss it again and catch it from behind, then hand you the ice cream, smile and say "Oompa loompa doompadee doo...I've got an ice cream just for you!" *throws hands up in the air

Oh for you UT students, show your UT ID at the front and they'll give you a...

While in town on vacation we stopped in here, as getting ice cream after a day of hiking is what we like to do. Unfortunately the first impression was that it smelled like a literal garbage can in the place. Not sure if this is the norm as other reviews don’t mention the smell, but this particular night it was strong. We ordered 2 waffle cones. The ice cream was good, not as creamy as I would expect from an ice cream shop, but it was good. Sadly the waffle cones were extremely hard. I tried eating some of mine as it is one of my favorite parts of the experience of an ice cream shop ( and something you pay extra money for). My boyfriend however threw his in the garage after he finished his ice cream. The service was very good and the people working behind the counter were friendly and kind. Sadly I would not go back here honestly because of the smell alone and because the waffle cone itself was...

My favorite Amys in Austin because of the super friendly service and proximity to my son’s apartment. Best flavors are... that’s a hard one. I always get one of the daily specials beside my ever-present dark chocolate. Tito’s the Dude, Mexican Vanilla, Coconut, Black Metal Stout. When I visit Austin, it’s like being in Italy-I have to have ice cream for at least one meal a day. I mean, it has milk and eggs so that’s two food groups. Get one with fruit and you cover three! Just go to any of their locations in Austin. If you find better ice cream anyplace else-please let me know so I can go try it!!! Their are other “trendier” ice cream places in Austin but they just don’t stand up to Amys. I posted a pic of my Amy’s cows that hang out with me in SoCal between my trips to Austin. They keep me company until Amys opens a place out here. :)

Amy’s states that service dogs are allowed however this is not the case. I came with my service dog to get ice cream and the worker was stating the rules are that they have to wear vests. A simple google search to the ADA’s site could tell you that they are not required. We were discriminated upon because of the lack of education. The worker was a blonde tall male, who was extremely rude when I tried to explain that my dog is a service animal trained to prevent seizures. I have also filed a complaint with the ADA. This is atrocious that in a city like Austin that is inclusive to all walk of life, disabilities and those with them are treated like this.
