If you're looking for a delicious traditional tex-mex restaurant with a delicious food, a uniquely cool vibe (both indoor and outdoor seating), good amazing service, you should check out Arturo's. I practically lived in the Austin area for years and only wish I had found this spot sooner.

You know a restaurant is good when it is a below-ground restaurant that would likely never be found if it weren't for the quality of food.

I ordered the Diablo which is open bread with over easy egg, chipotle hollandaise, crispy bacon, pico de Gallo, cheddar jack cheese, on top of cheddar jalapeno toast. The cheese on the bread was crisped to perfection and the egg was cooked perfectly to ensure the yolk melted all over the bread. The seasoning of the chipotle hollandaise was amazing. I don't care much for potato wedges, but these were well seasoned and many were crispy, making it much better tasting.

When I got there they were decently busy but not overwhelmed so I was able to sit down immediately. The server was prompt and I got my coffee within less than a minute and my food after ordering I received it within five minutes from ordering (which was very surprising to me given the volume of people that were in the restaurant). The server provided me some great recommendations, of which the Diablo was one of the more popular dishes so I went with that and I'm glad I did!

I also got the bottomless coffee which was a delicious organic breakfast blend. I sat inside at first, but then I realized it was outdoor seating so I took full advantage of it because it was such a beautiful day and nice tucked-away area.

I will definitely be going back again and would recommend it as a worthwhile tex-mex...

At first sight the Arturo’s Underground Cafe seemed like a small and quiet hole in the wall restaurant with good customer service…I WAS WRONG. When ordering the breakfast sandwich they provide it on a whole multigrain bread but DID NOT specify that it has nuts in their bread.

There was no sign nor any verbal notification provided from the associate at the register. My friend, who is allergic to nuts, began eating the sandwich and had an allergic reaction. Luckily we were near our hotel to provide medication but went back to get a refund. The manager/owner was very rude, started an argument and tried to blame MY FRIEND for not asking if there were nuts in a MULTIGRAIN bread instead of taking accountability for being closed mouth about their food items and their ingredients. As a Black woman, I did not appreciate his condescending tone towards her if she were child. The refund was provided but this unpleasant experience will be my lasting impression of this establishment.

Definition of Multigrain: Multigrain refers to a product that contains more than one type of grain. For example, multigrain bread can be made from a combination of grains like wheat, oats, barley,...

Arturo's Underground Café in Austin, Texas, is a beloved local spot known for its laid-back atmosphere and hearty, flavorful dishes. The café has a cozy, eclectic vibe with a mix of funky décor, colorful murals, and mismatched furniture that makes it feel like a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The menu offers a range of options, from breakfast tacos to sandwiches, soups, and salads. The eggs benedicts are a must they have a vareity to choose from. The coffee is strong and smooth, making it a great spot for a morning pick-me-up, I went for the mimosas they have! Service at Arturo's Underground Café is friendly and relaxed, fitting the overall vibe of the place. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, and they make you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The pace is unhurried, perfect for those looking to enjoy a leisurely meal rather than a quick bite. The café’s underground setting adds to its charm, giving it a speakeasy-like feel. It’s a place where you can sit back, relax, and soak in the creative energy of Austin. The walls are adorned with local art, and there’s often a diverse crowd of students, professionals, and long-time locals...

Came here on Sunday for brunch with a few friends. We got there at 11:15am, and there was a line outside of the restaurant. The line moved pretty fast, and we were seated by 11:30am. It is a small and cute restaurant. Our server is very friendly. We ordered 2 cups of break blend coffee, and a cup of cappuccino. We got the coffee pretty quickly, but the cappuccino did not get to us until 20 min later. I also found out that they don't have breakfast tacos on weekends. I felt a bit sad as everyone told me that I have to have breakfast taco in Texas. I ordered chorizo scramble instead. The menu mentioned the the food has to made now it was designed and cannot be personalized (I wish that I can request for no spicy as I cannot eat spicy). The food got to our table 30 mins after we placed the order. My chorizo scramble was very tasty, except that it is a bit too spicy for me. I spent time picking out the green pepper and jalapeño out. The chorizo is very flavorful, and not oily. I might return to try their breakfast taco when I am in town again.
