Alert Alert...I have found my favorite oysters in Austin!!! I really think it's the chili oil that makes them and then with a spritz of lemon you have absolute perfection. You can't beat $1 for Murder Point Alabama oysters. They feature this pricing during their HH from 4 pm to 6 pm everyday. I believe it is throughout the restaurant. We had a table for two reservation and sat in one their super cute 2 seater half booths facing the bar. Our server Aimee was beyond attentive and all other staff continuously made sure we were ok. As well as kept our water carrafe full and made sure to pour for us when our glasses were empty.
We also tried the Pasta Sorpresina with Mussels from the HH menu ($14) and Cavatelli half portion ($16) from the Dinner Menu of Handmade Pastas. Both were beyond scrumptious. I love me some lamb. The flavors with the honey in the Cavatelli were so decadent and flavorfil. Paired well with the hazelnut. The Mussels dish had an exceptional broth. I wish we had ordered some focaccia bread to dip to savor every drop of the broth. Next time! I also appreciated that every time our plates were served we were explained in detail what ingredients were involved. On top of that when you check in for your reservation they do ask if you have any dietary restrictions.
We paired our food with a couple of beverages... La Brasa ($10) - If you love tequila with a hint of spiciness and tropical mango flavors this is a great refreshing summer drink. Scarpetta Frico Bianco ($9) - Like a Pinto Grigio. Crisp and refreshing. Pairs well with the oysters. Espolon Espresso Martini ($10) - Always gotta have at least one espresso martini ha my vice. They made it very well.
Overall the food was amazing and you can truly taste the difference that it is handmade pasta. The staff goes above and beyond to tend to their guests down to the smallest detail.
Also I must have the wallpaper in the ladies restroom. The monkeys smoking and drinking are a...
Read moreI recently went to Casa Bianca for a short notice birthday dinner. We arrived right on time and were seated promptly. We sat upstairs which was a nice vibe even though you do get some road noise. Our server dropped by soon after and explained the menu.
We decided to order some glasses of wine and 2 starters and a pasta: tuna cannoli, focaccia bread, and the ragu pasta. The cannoli and bread were tasty and fresh. None of us cared much for the ragu. It was a very sharp taste. We also ordered the branzino (fish) and grilled pork bellies soon after. That’s when things went downhill.
Our server soon disappeared and we sat there for an hour waiting for the fish. We had to flag down the server and ask for a status. The manager came over to apologize and was very professional. She said they had a record seating tonight which was causing the delay. However, when I looked around there were quite a few empty tables and I knew something was off. This was a Saturday night between 7-9. Prime time and there were multiple empty tables.
Another 10-15 minutes goes by and they bring a complementary Caesar salad over to the table. While a nice gesture I was already soured and was ready to go. We asked for the check and the manager again came over to offer the fish for free. When the fish came out after almost an hour and a half wait I asked for the check and took one bite of fish. It had too much sauce so we couldn’t taste the fish. I offered to pay for the items we ate and enjoyed. We never saw the pork belly dish.
The manager came over to offer a generous discount on the meal and what could be done to make it right. I said nothing because we were just ready to go and didn’t want the food to go. The full dinner was then comped which was the right thing to do.
I am giving 3 stars because the staff was polite, some Of the food was good and the restaurant had a nice venue. However I won’t be going back there. Too many other good...
Read moreCasa Bianca has incredible food and drinks! We were lucky enough to get to speak to one of the owners, Richard, who created the bar menu. He told us about his backstory - his decade + of experience comes from working at the bartending mecca that is NYC. He learned how to make cocktails from his mentor, who learned their cocktail-ing from one of the original Death & Co owners. If you don't know, Death & Co. is one of the best bars in the country.
This made us really excited to try the drinks, as we loved Death & Co. when we went to NYC a few years ago.
We had the Mare Nectaris Martini, which was the best martini we've ever had. It is so flavorful and perfumed from using St. George Botanivore Gin and Lillet Blanc. Highly recommended if you love martinis/strong drinks.
We also had a N.E.S.T.A. (spiced el dorado 5yr, rhum jm, guava, banana, grapefruit), B.O.P. (hamilton 86, planation OFTD, contratto aperitif, orgeat, passion fruit, lime) as well, and both were fantastic.
For food, we ordered the fried olives stuffed with herbs & gorgonzola cream. These were so tasty and great little bites.
The clams casino panzerotti with smoked mozzarella, bacon, ramps, and Calabrian chili jam was among one of our favorite things we ate there. That JAM! I still dream about it.
The English Pea cappeletti with favas, Chinese sausage, pea brodo was a delicious surprise. We didn't expect to see Chinese sausage mixed in with Italian food. The nice sweetness and smokiness complemented the brodo and pea flavors spectacularly.
The branzino was actually both my and my partner's first time having it, and it was amazing. It sits on top of a caramelized fennel puree and pistachio salsa verde. This one was fantastico - I'd eat this again and again every time I'm back there.
Casa Bianca has made it into our regular rotation due to the vibes (on point), drinks (incredible), and food...
