EDIT/UPDATE: The owner reached out to me. He sounded very genuine in expressing his concern and care. He also applied another credit to our account. We are still skeptical about the wings and delivery, but we did put in a pick up order for the pep rolls, pizza, soda, and cheesecake and it was all delicious. We're glad the owner is involved and hopefully things will continue to improve. I have updated my rating from a 2 to a 3.
Something has changed. In the past 6-8 weeks the service and food quality have taken a downward spiral. I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and keep reordering to see if its just a one off thing but unfortunately this is the new normal for Craigo's.
I started to notice this one time when my delivery was taking a realllly long time - like over an hour and a half. It was also closing time so I thought I should call to find out what's going on. Turns out the delivery driver went to the wrong apartments AND his car broke down. Instead of fast tracking a new and fresh order to me I got the old food that had been sitting for over an hour that looked like it was in a bad car wreck. Oh and nothing was comped - only $5 on my NEXT order.
Another example - we love Craigo's wings and order them often. But they have changed their chicken supplier and the way they are cooked. What used to be high quality wings and drums are now oversized fat-ridden cheap pieces of chicken slathered in so much more sauce than they have ever cooked them with - one can only assume it is the cover up the new low quality chicken.
And then there was tonight. A missing entree, stale garlic bread, and flat 2 liter soda (seemed to be sealed but now who knows). I took the time to calmly and politely express my disaapointment in quality and service to the manager, John, and I don't think he really seemed to care. And again, I only got $10 off my NEXT order.
I've been ordering atleast twice a month, sometimes more, from Craigo's since the pandemic. I always tip the driver when putting in the order over the phone and my orders are anywhere between $40-60 each time. I'm not confident things will change for the better, so I will likely not order again...
Read moreToday 11/07/17, I asked my boyfriend to order Craig O's Vegetarian pizza with no olives and have it delivered to my work place at 6 because let’s face it, I live in Dripping Springs and they will not deliver to our house. So to avoid the traffic I had them deliver to my work and I would take it home for some good pizza. On the phone they told him that it will be delivered in 45min (he called at 5:00) so I was expecting them around 5:45 or after. To my annoyance they delivered it at 5:30...now I have pizza sitting at my desk for another 30min before I can drive home. By 6 I checked it just to see if it's still hot/warm, but again to my annoyance I find out it had, what looks like, a double order of green olives all over. I decided that if a pizza is going to cost me $30.00 it better be what I ordered. Upset that now I have to waste my time and gas, I drove to the restaurant and explained them what was wrong, but the response I got… Oh my God! The manager just couldn’t care any less for their mistake and my disappointment. He only offered to remake the pizza which will take them 15-20min and that is all… No apology, no understanding, no redeeming offer… NOTHING… when I told him I just want my money back, he gave me this annoyed look as if I’m nuisance and just nodded…and then when I took my money I heard a quick “sorry”…with no care in his tone. So, thank you for ruining the rest of my day! I do not recommend this place at all, I don’t want anyone else’s day...
Read moreCraig-O's is a local, Austin-based pizza restaurant that, for this particular location, is around-the-corner from the big-box electronics store off MoPac & 290. They offer pizza entries that are more than capable with fresh ingredients and a variety of combinations for pizza. Menu items include your traditional pies (meat lovers, for example) or new concepts like the Pesto Parmesan- which we ordered on our inaugural jaunt. The pizza itself was nicely balanced between crust, sauce and toppings. Additionally, their pizza demonstrated a well executed variety in texture: warm crisp crust, melty cheese and breaded chicken). The kitchen was staffed with members who were courteous and efficient in their time and service. I observed 3 guests walk in and out within minutes of my time there. While they may not have the buying power for lower priced products compared to the national chains, the trade-off is that ingredients are fresher and I'm supporting a local business that dutifully supports the local community (school Parent Teacher Organizations, for example- which Craig-O's contributes to). In short, Craig-O's, on its own, is deserving of patronage on their quality of product and service. Supporting local Austin restaurants makes the decision to buy dinner there that much easier. If you haven't had a pie from these, folks,...
