In town for the week, and had my first meal here. I love the setting, even the parking lot with two dumpsters labeled, one for landfill trash and the other recycling, in front of a repurposed old house with lots of patio seating with fans. Casual, laid-back, and comfortable, even in Texas heat. I ordered the chicken basket, and was a little disappointed that it came with no sides other than a pickle spear and a split jalapeno. For $10.25, I got that and 4 pieces of chicken. Seems a little steep. Very tasty, yes, but I dont feel like I got any kind of value whatsoever. Plus they have a bunch of tasty sounding sides, all for like $3.50 each as add-ons that I would have loved to have been able to try, at least one. I have a half size stomach, so I can't eat a whole kids meal in one sitting even, so its wasteful for me to order more I won't be able to finish, especially when my total before tip was $15 for the chicken basket and lemonade. The lemonade says hand-squeezed, but I swear I've had this same thing many other places with the same label, so it's not freshly hand squeezed or made there. Still good though. I will have to go back and try the banana pudding. I hear it is worth a special trip on it own. I can't say no to that.

Lucy’s catering did a phenomenal job at our October 2024 wedding!!! They handled all the setup and breakdown and did everything perfectly and with efficiency. Not to mention they are very competitively priced versus other full service caterers in the Austin area. Cristina was so sweet and easy to work with leading up to our day! She was extremely communicative and patient even when I had a million questions/ menu changes. Most importantly - the food was absolutely spectacular. People still make a point to tell us how amazing the food was and multiple professional chefs who were our guests told me it was “the best wedding food they’ve ever had.” The grilled vegetables were a stand out as well! My husband and I are both foodies but still wanted to honor our Texas roots at our wedding. They helped us craft a menu that was both upscale and true to us. Going to oyster bars and attending oyster tastings was a big part of our dating life and we really wanted to incorporate that at our wedding - which is ultimately why we went with Lucy’s. We had the raw oyster bar for cocktail hour and our guests adored it and we also heard multiple compliments about the shucker on staff. 10/10 highly recommend Lucy’s for your wedding or event!

Went to Lucy’s for the first time today - our expectations were mid and we had heard opposing opinions. We ordered a Texas Poutine (special for the day) to start and it was great. The tater tots were done well and their sausage gravy was actually damn good. The cheese curds were perfectly fried and had that amazing chew you always want in a cute. I’d actually get the curds by themselves if they had them too. The other special for they day was Nashville Hot Chicken. I overestimated the hot.. it wasn’t hot at all. They served me 2 chicken breasts which I thought was odd - at least a heads up or a mix of dark and white meat. Unfortunately it was dry. The skin and Nashville seasoning was good but there was little Nashville to it. The fried chicken basket was better. The 4 piece came with breast, thigh, drumstick and wing. It was juicy and paired well with some of the sauces they have at the table. We also ordered coleslaw and I thought it was good. My wife thought it had too much vinegar. Overall, everything was good but it doesn’t compete with the big name up the road. (It rhymes with buses). Service was good and the place looks fun to have a few drinks too.

We used Lucy's Fried Chicken as our wedding dinner, and it was an absolute home run!

Justine is a badass at her job. She was always in contact with us to answer questions and adjust quotes. My husband and I don't live in Austin, so we had never tried the food before. I just knew that 1, the options looked really fun and 2. it was in our price range! Our tasting at Lucy's was absolutely incredible and the place was such a vibe that we would have stayed there to drink all day if we didn't have other tastings to get to! We tried both fried and grilled chicken and a plethora of sides to determine what we liked the best. I'm pretty sure I died and went to heaven when I tried that first bite of gravy. My husbands only critique is that his mom's fried chicken was slightly better (spoiler, she wasn't offering to fry chicken for 140 people. ) Justine very sweetly told us that collard greens don't always go over the best, but also trusted our judgement when we said it would be a hit!

Justine went on maternity leave during our planning process but we were never left in the dark, And from a super organized, planning, type A person like myself- she did one more thing I wish more vendors would do- A VACATION RESPONDER on their emails if it was the weekend or they were dealing with a big event! Yes you want your vendors to be responsive but they don't need to worry about checking if there is garlic in the sweet potatoes for me if they're working another event! I so appreciated this level of thoroughness.

Lucy's wasn't on the preferred vendors for my venue, but they were familiar with the restaurant and open to making it work. Lucy's did a site visit and planned with the venue team. I had the slightest bit of nerves knowing they had never worked at our venue before, but it went so well that the venue owners have added them to the preferred list! As a person who loves connecting others, this makes my heart happy!

Ok, the actual food. OMG everybody raved about it! We had a few WOW factors at our event, but the food was definitely mentioned the most. Many comments of "the best wedding food they had ever had." One friend noted "chicken at a wedding is always dry. This must be the first wedding I've ever been to with wet chicken." Everyone raved about it. Another friends husband said there was a moment after everyone had the first bite of just absolute WOW. We served fried and grilled chicken, collard greens, texas caviar, mashed sweet potatoes, lonestar beer gravy and cornbread with tequila butter. I think I heard votes for every single dish as the favorite- and I loved hearing people say they tried greens for the first time! We didn't do any apps for our wedding, but I knew even if someone was hungry while they waited, they would forgive us after dinner!

OH! And we did dessert with them as well which was AWESOME. We didn't get to try the desserts, as they are just for catering, but at this point we trusted Lucy's and just went with it. And let me tell you, it was a hit! One of my favorite memories is my husband behind me on the dancefloor with a lemon bar in hand! We ended up having some food and dessert left over and man were people thrilled to see that at the after party! Nothing like seeing your loved ones pretty buzzed walking around with a chicken leg in hand!

Oh, and it was a GREAT value! Right about $26/ person for food AND dessert! Talk about a good deal!!

I could write another five paragraphs. Just do yourself a favor and book the tasting, and pack your...

My friends and I recently dined at lucys fried chicken place, and unfortunately, I had a highly unpleasant experience. The atmosphere was passable, but the service left much to be desired. Our waiter displayed a consistently rude and condescending attitude towards my friends and me throughout the entire meal, making us feel as if we were being treated as less than intelligent.

To make matters worse, we also felt an uncomfortable vibe in the restaurant. Initially, we wondered if our waiter was having a bad day, but it became apparent that his demeanor changed when serving a different group of customers. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it felt like there might have been a bias at play, as he treated a group of Caucasians differently from us, a group of black customers.

Our disappointment reached a breaking point when we decided not to leave a tip due to the poor service we received, well within our rights as customers. Shockingly, the waiter followed us to the parking lot, aggressively shouting, "oh okay, thank you for the gracious tip you left, I get the message. You guys are so kind," in an extremely sarcastic tone. This unprofessional behavior was unacceptable.

We called the establishment to address this issue with management, hoping for a resolution. Sadly, the waiter continued to be snarky and sarcastic over the phone. This entire experience left a sour taste in our mouths, and I can confidently say that I will never return to this place. Additionally, the food, apart from the waffles and iced tea, was mediocre at best. This combination of terrible service and subpar food ensures that I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

if that waiter is reading this, Honey, if you really GOT the message as you said, I hope you fix your attitude for the sake of your bag. Because frankly, with that attitude you’ll be looking extremely broke with much less tips as a constant occurrence. May...

I'm not even sure where to start but I absolutely loved our experience at this little hole in the wall. To begin, we were there on a Tuesday, I somehow got confused and thought they closed at 10, but they close at 9pm. We were greeted as we walked in, our server promptly brought us menus and offered drinks. We ordered fried pickles and chicken nachos as appetizers. The Margaritas were amazing, nice and strong (only had 1) the apps were delicious, best fried pickles I've ever had and the nachos as well, every tostada has toppings on it. For the main dish my husband ordered fish and chips, the fries were crisp and tasty 😋 the cod filets were fresh and simply delicious. I ordered the chicken and waffles, they blew me away with the flavor. Best waffles I've ever had, the chicken was crispy, juicy and full of flavor. If that's not enough the service was exceptional 👌 our server was on top of of it, yet never rushed us, because as I mentioned before I thought they closed at 10. He did advice us at about 15 minutes before 9pm that kitchen would close shortly in case we wanted more food but by then we were so full from the apps that we only ate the waffles and 2 chicken strips, we took the rest of the deliciousness home to enjoy...
