In times like these, I don’t like to hurt businesses because it’s already tough; however, the bartender wasn’t the friendliest. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” We’ll get to that. They weren’t attentive to the new customers as much as their regulars. If you want to be a regular...than make a “poor choice” and spend your time here. The only saving grace was the friendly manager who can whip you up some good food, but, limited menu due to “restrictions.” The worst part of the experience was when the bartender told us to start a tab even though we already had a tab. I told her I wanted to pay cash but my tab was under my name. The bartender continued to tell my wife to start a tab or close out in cash now, my wife says, “we already have a tab under this name and we’ll close it out in cash because obviously you want people out of here” (people were starting to fill up the place and you could tell the bartender was worried about capacity) so instead of telling the new people coming in that they were full, the bartender rushed people who were already there out. Then they charged my card and didn’t let me pay in cash. We left and tried talking to the manager on the way out just about what happened trying to clear the air, about how I didn’t get to pay in cash (no big deal really, just trying to say how we were rushed out), and Brandi (the bartender)interrupted our conversation and said “oh ya, hey, mmmm, don’t let the door hit you on the way out” wow I was shocked. So if you want be friends with Brandi, make a poor choice, head down to a bad bar on 6th street, and get a bad drink that taste...
Read moreAs a bar on the weekends, this place does okay. The drinks are more expensive than average. The service is normally terrible and the staff always has some sort of an attitude. For awhile now this bar has been holding the Kill Tony sign ups on Mondays. Myself and every other comedian included absolutely hates this place. The atmosphere is horrible, the patio looks and feels like it's a few years from falling off. As I said, the drinks are way over priced. Nobody wants to drink here, they go to another bar to drink and come back for the sign ups. They just recently decided to stop letting dogs in which is absolutely silly when you are in Austin, TX and you hold the Kill Tony sign ups. Overall this place is crappy, the staff is crappy, the drinks are crappy and how a place like this ever got a hold of the Kill Tony sign ups is beyond me. They don't try and appeal to comedians, in fact they treat them like garbage so nobody wants to give them any business. As a normal crappy bar, it's okay, there's nothing special to it and it doesn't stand out. You are better off going to Shakespeare's, Buck Wild, El Chupacabra, etc. Going to pour choices is a major...
Read morePoor choice with my 1st bar on 6th street during my 1st visit to Austin. Very unhappy about the automatic 20% gratuity added to my bill without pre-disclosing this rule. After speaking with the manager, He informed that they're a tourist bar, and that they had the right to make this charge. Interesting that other bars in the immediate area did not practice this 'right'; So, if you're a tourist, please be aware and take your tourist dollars to other bars where you're not taxed extra for visiting. It sucks for the bartender, though... I probably would have tipped more than the automatic charge. Makes me wonder if my party of 4 and I were automatically charged this fee because our complexions were different/darker than others in the bar. Needless to say, I will not come back to this bar. It's not about tip, it's the principle.... And it should...
