This used to be my second favorite bar on 6th. Until this past Saturday when two of the workers stole my iPhone 11 Pro Max and my debit card. One of the bartenders was one of the people that were in on it. When they stole it on Saturday I looked and looked for it. Couldn't. I went back on Sunday, yesterday, and ask the guy bartender if anything had been turned in (already knowing who stole it and where it was stolen from). This guy had the audacity to say no, nothing has been turned in and he DIDN'T EVEN LOOK FOR ANYTHING. My friend and I got her phone out and looked around the whole bar to see if it was under the seating or anywhere. It wasn't anywhere to be found. We left and checked all the other bars, just to be 100% sure. Nothing. We went back to The Jackalope & asked a lady bartender and she actually LOOKED for my card and phone. LOW&BEHOLD.... GUESS WHAT. They had my debit card, but no phone. So, we searched the whole place again and I told the nice lady bartender who stole it and to keep an eye out. The original guy bartender that we asked didn't turn around once to show his face to our video we had going. Because he knew he was in the wrong for not looking, knowing it was there. We got his face on the video at the end. He went and told all of the workers something while we were searching the bar, but would never make eye contact with us. THEN. The door guy OH THIS GUY..... Had the audacity to walk up behind my friend and inform her that he is the one that cleans the floors every night.... (Does a terrible job at that). But, he kept insisting that my phone was not there and that he didn't find anything and that there is no reason for us to be looking anymore. Mind you, she got all of this on video, but not this guys face. Then, once we told him that the tracking was in the bar he INSISTED that it was in Peckerheads because "they are above The Jackalope". HAHA. I informed him that it said Jackalope.. Then I informed him that they just had my card... Which is funny because we never drank in that bar, we walked in and out & they were both together.. This guy started getting nervous and asking all these weird questions. Then he started laughing and giving us a side eye, like he knew he was in the wrong. Again, I've never had a bad time or experience at this bar. This was the first bad encounter.. Which is the worst. Once we got my card and left, the door guy (who, I will add, was drinking outside of the bar & while working) kept talking to some random guy at the door and kept talking very loudly about us and kept looking at us while laughing even when we were all the way across the street at Pour Choices. Overall, both of those guys were beyond unprofessional. I will never be returning...
Read moreI didn't have the best first impression. I'd dropped by randomly to get a slice of pizza. I didn't really know anything about the place--it was just close to my hotel.
I was a little off-put by one of the bartenders. They just felt really cold and distant. I wasn't trying trying to be friends and have a long chat or anything but damn. It felt like I'd deeply offended them or something even though I hadn't really said anything at all. I just sat down to have a slice of pizza.
So why 5 stars than?
First off--the pizza is excellent. I was blown away. I didn't know that to expect but I certainly didn't expect that perfect crunchy crust layer that's painted on to a fluffy flavor explosion. The pizza here is among my all time favorite.
Secondly, I'd gone back for drinks with friends and met two of the coolest bartenders around. Audrey and Julia were exceedingly kind, in a way that makes them almost fell like old friends you've known all your life. They dance around conversation and banter while still fulfilling all the roles of the job with grace. The contrast between those two and some of the staff from before is absurd. Previously I had thought being 'cold and unfriendly' was like a part of the theme or something. Like a 'hells kitchen' kind of thing.
Thirdly, the DJ is great. Maybe he doesn't play the songs you like or whatever, but that's not the point. He mixes with skill and blends songs together well. Even the music videos are blended together skillfully. I felt like that's underappreciated but try and keep an eye out of you ever go there and I know...
Read moreGot overcharged (as have others). Went on a Sunday early evening and had food and beers. After I was done eating I went to the beer garden for a while to finish my 2nd beer and then when I went back to the bar to close my tab at about 8PM, the bartenders said I didn't have one. When I told them about the things I had ordered and let them try to find it using the same card, they still said that they couldn't find it. I showed them the pending charge on my credit card account and explained that I want to see my receipt, then one of the bartenders told me that if you have been there for 2 hours they close the tab automatically and charge 20% gratuity (What?! I had never left!). HOWEVER, when I checked my credit card account afterwards I found out that they helped themselves to a $20 tip (about 40%) without my permission. So yeah, they stole from me the customer. Finally they found my itemized total receipt and and gave it to me and it showed a total of about $36 dollars which would have matched up with the prices of the things I purchased. They did NOT provide the credit card receipt and i unfortunately didn't think to demand to see it as well since this was already taking a long time to get the first receipt. I said, "OK, that's fine, I usually pay about 20% tip anyways". But I think they were lying and wouldn't show me the credit card receipt because they stole from me and got caught. While I was there, there was another person sitting next to me who they were also "unable to find" their tab. I got ripped off. Hopefully it was only an accident...
