We honestly could have stayed at the Holiday Inn for half the price, better cleanliness, and wayyy better breakfast and service. Extremely unwhelmed and disappointed. When you call the hotel, it states the "brand new Hyatt House" however this place is not new and doesn't feel like what you'd come to expect from the Hyatt brand. It's worn down and there is absolutely no pride in this hotel whatsoever. They haven't even done the basics to maintain the property. We paid about $350 for the night. Upon arrival, the only parking option is to valet for $45/dollars or pay for street parking. Only one valet attendant working on Saturday morning during checkout time. It took 45 minutes for us to get the car parked w/ valet😒. Walked in the room and the toliet was filthy (be thankful I spared you the pics!). I had to go to the corner store and get Clorox to disinfect. There was dust everywhere, allergies started going crazy. Pulled back the nightstand to plug in my charger and there was more dust, grapes, other food just disgusting.. obviously only surface level housekeeping, if you can call it that, and there is still the Covid cleaning disclosure on the website. There is NO safe for valuables. They said breakfast featured "your choice of classics like scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns, waffles, steel-cut oatmeal, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt"...no waffles, runny eggs, and everything was cold. Only one elevator was working...and housekeeping used the same elevator as guests. We asked for extra linens and towels and pillows, and had to walk down at midnight to get them. There were no extra pillows for the pull out bed😒. There is MOLD in the shower (pic). And the shower builds up water as you're showering🤢. Our room description on the website said "beautiful view of downtown Austin", yet we faced a wall, and we paid an upgrade for this particular room with absolutely NO VIEW of anything besides a wall. When asked for a room with a view we were told that any room we got would be a downgrade and since I booked and paid in advance online, no amount would be refunded. What sense does it make to design the biggest and most expensive room to face a wall?? What dummies designed and approved this architecture for this building? We took the stairs down (from the highest floor) to avoid the long elevator wait/lines and that lead us outside the hotel and we had to walk around the corner back to the lobby. Just can't win at this places for always losing. I mean it's a mess honestly. Definitely won't be back to Hyatt. My child stumped her toe on the unfinished poorly laid "wood" that doesn't have a seamless transition from the carpet (pic). Plus the carpet looks like it's due for a deep cleaning. I was just so ready to checkout... We decided to stay in Austin another night bit changed hotels because I just couldn't take it anymore.

Clean facade. Missing some simple, basic items in the room. Some staff was good, others....lacking, and others quite useless. Decent price, but parking $$ and the neighborhood....ugh. Homeless are all over this city and this hotel seems to be right by soup kitchens and other homeless services. If they bother you, then you will definitely want to drive everywhere. Very close to sixth street. I was there over new years. A couple block walk and you are right in the mix of things. If you want to get "down and dirty" at night without worrying about driving, this is the right place. Not an impressive place, but they have your bare necessities covered. Missing TV channel guide, extra blankets for fold out, and house keeping.... they don't want to do it, even if "you're due for cleaning" (their terminology, not mine) 5 day stay and we were eligible for cleaning the day before we left. Need T.P. don't call, walk down and ask because they hardly answer the phones. And, they will have to call somebody as they keep nothing at the front desk. Bar food, glorified Sam's Club groceries cooked in an air fryer. And for those of you that think that's good, an air fryer is a glorified toaster oven. But, after a week of disappointing food at so many places, I was glad to get what I got and not have a haste getting it. The city has 100% app driven services industry. Sorry, but it sucks. Like most places these days, service is...meh. But they try.

It is a great place to stay in Austin. I was in town as a tourist and found Hyatt House a great hub for my stay. Pros. A great location close to night life (East 6th St) as well as the rest of Down Town and the Capital only a short walk away. It is only a 20 min walk to the Moody Centre, so it's a great place to stay if you are in town for an event. Breakfast is included and was not a 5 star meal but very suitable. I did eat at the bar one night for dinner and while the meal was good, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. The hotel also has a small pool and gym to keep active. Cons. Being so close to night life does mean there can be noise. I stayed Friday to Tuesday and the worst nights for noise were Friday and Saturday but there was a bit each night. It definitely wasn't a deal breaker for me but the hotel might not be for you if you are a light sleeper and plan to go to bed early. Over very happy with my stay and I will return next time I am in Austin.

My stay at Hyatt House Austin/Downtown was truly exceptional, thanks in no small part to the outstanding front desk staff. From the moment I checked in, the two gentlemen at the front desk exhibited unparalleled kindness and professionalism. Their customer service skills were beyond compare, making the check-in process seamless and enjoyable.

What stood out was the evident synergy between the staff, even during a training scenario. One of the gentlemen was in the midst of training, and his trainer showcased remarkable customer service expertise. Despite the training dynamic, their combined efforts left a lasting impression on me, as they went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction.

Throughout my stay, the front desk staff continued to be a highlight, offering valuable local insights and accommodating any requests with enthusiasm. Their genuine warmth and dedication to customer service significantly contributed to the overall positive experience at Hyatt House Austin/Downtown.

While my experience at Hyatt House Austin/Downtown was overwhelmingly positive, I must share a minor hiccup that occurred with my payment. Regrettably, there was an issue with my card being charged, refunded, and then charged again, resulting in a temporary negative balance in my account. This unexpected financial discrepancy became apparent only days later, after I had returned home.

Despite this inconvenience, I want to emphasize that the exceptional service provided by the front desk staff and the overall quality of my stay overshadowed this isolated incident. The front desk team handled my concerns with utmost professionalism when I brought it to their attention, and the matter was promptly resolved.

In light of this, I recommend potential guests to double-check their payment transactions during their stay to avoid any unforeseen issues. However, I remain confident that the outstanding service and hospitality at Hyatt House Austin/Downtown make it a worthwhile choice for a memorable and comfortable stay in Austin.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, not only for its prime location and excellent amenities but also for the remarkable front desk staff who truly exemplify the pinnacle of hospitality. My stay was made memorable, and I look forward to returning to this Hyatt House for future...

My husband & I plus two of our teenagers were visiting for UT family weekend. (oldest is a freshman) After the spring football game, we went to check in to hotel about 3:30 on Saturday. Since it was raining off/on, we had our luggage plus three teens and freshman's friend stuffed in the backseat of husband's truck. He went to check in and was told our room was not ready & we would be notified when it was. Since I had stayed in truck & listened to teenagers complain about having to sit on top of each other, I went in after him. By this time, it's 3:40 and I tell front desk this is unacceptable and we need our room now. Older lady tells me "they were full last night." Not interested in excuses, I tell her I've never arrived at a hotel after check in time (3:00) and been told room was not ready. So she says there is a room avail on nightclub side where we had requested not to be due to middle of the night noise. I ask if we can check in there & move to other side once room is ready - she says no. I ask if we can put our bags on a cart in a secure place, (because that's all we really needed to do so kids could fit comfortably in truck and we could go eat) - she says yes. I ask if there is any sort of credit for this situation and she agrees to discount parking. I go out to get bags, husband and I come back in, had to wait a few additional minutes and the younger lady handed us our keys to room right before 4:00. First lady was not friendly or receptive to our needs and even said "3:00 was the beginning of check in", suggesting you are not guaranteed your room until later, which again have not had this problem anywhere else & reminded her it was 3:40. Should not have to get mad to get our room by 4:00 and enjoy our UT family weekend. Room, location and breakfast were great and they did take care of parking except tips - will give them...
