Went to join friends. No warm welcome. Nothing half empty but found a you seat. Wait 5 minutes ok. Ordered water and a SKINNY margarita top shelf and catfish dinner and hushpuppies all at once.

Both very good. One lemon ...2 hushpuppies... A friend coming then 4 more. Tried to order for friend can't do ...a quote of the law... ok...good. Friend came knew her order via text she came but went to restroom... waitress said until she's in seat... can't order for her until she is seated...ok... Asked for extra plate and lemon water wait....... nothing went to bar to help get plate... missing bartender Ann? My server said you can't be here at bar i have 4 tables ahead of you...no water no lemon no extra plate. Ok... back to bartender because 2nd Margarita order when server cane with plate...was premix sugar deluxe not skinny . No waitress....gone... back to bar with my sugar non top self skinny....... told bartender it's not a skinny upset she thru drink used same glass which is awesome to mix an attitude Skinny ...was ok. Bill for 2 ....was asked for over $100 on website says 20% over $100 ok....? I had horrible service. I own 2 businesses in the service industry worst I have experienced in Austin. My 4 friends came trying not to be a downer I didn't mention anything. 18 tvs and not one on Women's sports? At first Margarita...Basketball going on i asked for woman's sports ? Service wait person same dark hair very zippy...said manager is in charge.... i can't do anything... We went to enjoy Fat Tuesday late lunch arrival tome 135 to 245pm and support local. Watch woman's sports and celebrate 🥳. The gentleman cleaning up tables was non communicated doing his job well. The darkest black hair woman doing her job i wish we could have gotten her!!!! The bartender and our server seem to have attitude against my patronage and we 6 will not be back. If you don't care about service and like cheap pre made drinks and paying 20% tip for awful service the food is good. I wish this was a better experience but the non dynamic duo is not customer...

Where do I even begin… this place was awful. & I don’t mean the food because I didn’t even make it to ordering before we decided just to leave at eat at the Domain.

We walked in and were greeted & then sat outside. Since there was a live band playing we thought it would be a nice vibe to sit outside, from there everything went downhill. The server came over , introduced himself and grabbed us water , my phone was close to dying so I requested a paper menu instead of scanning the QR code on the table. After waiting for awhile the server came back and asked if we were ready to order… but never gave me a menu to do so. 🙂 so then I asked again for a menu in which he said he’d be “right back” guess what he never came back with that menu… as I go to get up to go inside to grab one myself I see he’s at other tables taking orders & completely forgot AGAIN about us.

So I go inside & order drinks for the table myself at the bar & grab a menu. While inside I asked the bar tender how the fried pickles are and she says they aren’t good LOL second red flag …. 🚩 so I go back outside with the drinks and over hear the table in front of us complaining about when the waiter will be back as they had been waiting awhile to order more wine. He eventually comes back to our table apologizing about the lack of customer service & asks if we are ready to order.

We tell him he need few more minutes as we were basically deciding to leave the restaurant at that point. The final straw was tasting the ranch water I ordered that was watered down and had no flavor & the worst my friend’s margarita that I ordered with TAJÍN on the rim had freaking OLD BAY SEA FOOD SEASONING on the rim of the margarita instead. Not sure who thought that was a good idea just because it’s a sea food place …..but it was disgusting 🤢 & was the final straw to us leaving. I definitely won’t be back & wouldn’t recommend this place to...

First off let me state iv been coming here for over 7 years ! My mother is actually a regular… here … so it’s sad to say this was the WORST EXPERIENCE IV EVER HAD AT A “ mom & Pop” Place …

Me and my husband came in on Sunday to watch football and have a few beers and eat some food ! Ordered, everything’s going great server is awesome ! ( Heaven ) we decided to order my food first I wanted a Catfish plate ! Which is fried catfish some hush puppies and french fries everything was amazing. My husband decided he wanted to order now so we decided on. The caliente burger …

The burger comes out ! Let me state I love all food lol and definitely burgers so I know a good one on my first bite … anyone does …

The burger was burnt on the top and bottom … not “ charred “ like the General manager ( Heather) said it was and was overly spicy for my husbands taste …. We both tried it because sometimes I believe he overreacts … but no the burger was not good at all ! LONG story short I asked for another burger offered to pay for the new burger the first one was not to my liking and she proceeded to tell us WE DONT DO THAT HERE!!! She was rude she was yelling I was so embarrassed for the company to have someone like that represent such a great establishment. And then she took the burger that was bunt, and said IF YOU DONT TAKE THIS ONE WE WILL NOT MAKE YOU A NEW ONE . She argued over and over and my husband repeatedly told her this nothing to argue about could He please the order she refused took the burger we didn’t like and said we will not receive another burger. I was fed up with the way she had treated us I ask sweet heaven for our check and we left. Needless to say I’m more sorry for the company than I am for...

Update: Almost a year later, and dare I say this round was even better?! I was worried it would just be nostalgia, but The Boat does not disappoint. The service was terrific. Josh was attentive and friendly. Frankly, when we turned into ravenous animals on our seafood, he knew to let us have our space until we were delightfully sated. I don't think any other restaurant will ever top that deep need for true crawfish or anything seafood like this place. My boyfriend and I had been craving crawfish for a hot minute, so I did a deep dive on the best place in Austin. Everyone says go to The Boat. Living south, this was a little bit of a drive, but they seriously satisfied! Growing up with a Cajun family, we set our standards high. The Boat knows what they are doing! We ordered the Big Boil Special (1lb crawfish, 1lb shrimp, 1 lb snow crab legs), added sausage, an extra corn and potato and a side of hushpuppies ( 8 for only $5.25!) The hushpuppies were a perfect bite size, wonderfully seasoned, and thank heavens, not dry!! Such a rare find! We decided on medium heat on the boil because we wanted to smash the 3lbs of seafood. We were worried the heat wouldn't be enough, but no fear! It was a perfect balance, and the further we got into it, the spicier it got without overpowering. As it is earlier in the season, not all the crawfish were as large as they could be, but we still had some big bad boys with satisfyingly large claws and tails. My only suggestion is that a platter that large deserves a couple more potatoes and corn considering the 3lb size. In the end, we left satiated and looking forward to coming back with friends.

What to say without being 100 percent rude. If I had to put the food I got up against others in Austin, one I wouldn't blink a eye for paying alittle more for fresh seafood and definitely better seasoning. The seafood boil especially had very little flavor and for some odd reason I asked for mild spicy. Not spicy but afterwards my lips felt like I coated it in some hot sauce that was burning the skin. Yet never tasted anything spicy. The corn wasn't sweet or anything and the potato should have been cooked more to have soft texture when eating it, sauce was cheap and the shrimp was definitely chewing rubber. The cheese curds that were spicy definitely surprised me and was decent, as the fried Alligator on the description it says seasoned and Quite frankly it was the blandus gator I have ever try and it might have been meaty, no flavor. I feel like maybe this place in its heyday was definitely putting out good quality food or Mondays lunch time is when they decided to not serve the better food. Including the menu had a great list of items, definitely not worth a second trip especially with what Austin seafood scene has to offer. Better to pay alittle more than be nickel and dimed for extras in something that's already cooked before you ordered.
