While I didn't initially plan to write a negative review, my recent experience at Sushi Mas was concerning enough to warrant sharing. I usually take advantage of my car wash time next door to grab a bite at nearby cafes. This time, with the restaurant empty, I decided to dine at Sushi Mas to catch up on work.
Feeling less hungry, I requested a to-go container for my soup and ordered an extra serving for my husband. To my surprise, one of the staff members mistakenly canceled my order while I was finalizing the request for my husband's soup. This mix-up was quite unexpected and caused unnecessary delays.
After processing the re-order, I observed the employees indulging in meals from a neighboring eatery during my wait for the soup. When I inquired about the status of my order, the lady at the register mentioned that it was "cuclking," a term I didn't recognize. When seeking clarification, her response seemed dismissive and even impolite.
Unfazed, I tried to overlook this interaction and continued with my day. However, during my drive home, a distinct smell permeated my car. Upon parking, I discovered that the soup containers provided were flimsy paper ones that had leaked, causing a mess in my car. It was disheartening to realize the lack of attention to detail in packaging such liquids.
This incident left me questioning the competence of the restaurant management. Despite trying to downplay the situation, the overall experience was underwhelming and has made me apprehensive about returning. It's crucial for businesses to prioritize customer experience and prevent such...
Read moreI gave this place 3 stars purely because the Miso soup they charge 5 dollars for is barely half a measuring cup. It's just basic, run of the mill Miso that I've had at every Japanese restaurant, always in a larger portion, for a much cheaper price. There's literally nothing special about it and a complete rip-off for what they charge.
I also order a make your own pole bowl, NEVER selected onions. I HATE ONIONS!!! Yet my bowl had onions in it.
This part did not factor into my rating but hopefully the owner/manager sees it. I choose the Spicy Mayo sauce because it was the only one I had a slight idea what it might be.
Most places call it "spicy mayo" even though it isn't. I knew I was taking a chance and unfortunately it is VERY spicy. Not their fault as spicy is in the name. However, there's NOTHING stating what each sauce is made of so I had to make a "best guess." They should include a description of what each sauce is made of, and a spice level indicator so customers (especially first-timers like myself) can make a better decision. If that information was available, even though I hadn't tried one before, I could have chosen a sauce less spicy.
The flavor of the food is amazing and they can easily become a 5 star restaurant if they adjust the size/portion of the soup, pay attention to ordering details, and include descriptions and spice levels for their sauces.
I'm not opposed to trying the poke bowl again (especially if they give better description of the sauces) but I'll NEVER order the soup again unless...
