I was looking for some Cuban food in the area, and this place happened to be within walking distance of my hotel. I came by for dinner on a Monday at around 7, and it wasn't too crowded. To start, I had the grilled Argentinian provolone cheese. I knew I wouldn't be able to finish this myself but I wanted to try it anyway. It was perfectly melty, and was nice with the tomato it was topped with, and the toasted garlic butter Cuban bread they give you at the start of the meal. Eat it quick though because once it starts cooling off, the cheese gets hard and it's difficult to eat. For my main, I had the fried pork chunks. It comes with your choice of two sides so I went with the rice and beans, and some broccoli. The pork was served on top of avocado sauce, which I wish they had put on the side. The oil from the pork mixed in with the sauce, making it kind of separated. Some pork chunks were good (the fattier ones), but they were mostly dry. I didn't care for the rice and beans. They do give pretty big portions here though. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing. Looking back, it seems more like an Argentinian restaurant, and they probably just threw a few Cuban items on the menu. If you're looking for Cuban food, this ain't it.

Amazing amazing amazing! Did I say Amazing! Everything we had tasted so fresh and incredible. Very strong and tasty mango margarita. Started with flat bread made with butter and parsley and appetizers- plantain chips with wonderfully flavored sauce. Spinach salad with delicious dressings. Chicken empendas so so good. Heard beef even better. Grilled whole snapper, zarzuela de mariscos all very fresh and so flavorful! That goes for everything! Bkack beans, brown rice and fried plantain very good. Tres leche cake sinful. Finished with espresso. Wish I could have eaten more. Had to carry out a bunch. Can't say enough how great a dining experience we had. Service from everyone very friendly, attentive, fast. Loved our server, Adrien. Highly recommended. Has become a mainstay when in the area. I still do not feel this review did the place justice. Met a family who said they've been coming for 20 years. I can understand why.

Nice, "fairly priced", unassuming but tasty, properly cooked, Latin (LatinX?) menu. I've had the salmon at least 10x (I like salmon! Just a little... And this restaurant. Just a little.), and it's been perfectly cooked to my request (med. rare) EVERY TIME! (And fish is one of the easiest things to screw up.) What are the odds of that? I've been equally happy with other things I've had there. The "waitpersons "(?) are friendly and attentive. They also have outdoor tables. I suppose I should write a negative review,so it doesn't get too busy to get a table, but they've earned my loyalty. "Fairly priced" is relative to today's prices , in which most places have had to raise their prices during our "temporary" inflation. Although their prices are higher than pre covid, I haven't found them to increase any more, proportionately , than my other favorites.

Discriminatory... I want to begin this review by saying that I hate victim mentality in every sense. However, I (a darker skinned Hispanic man with black features) walked in casually dressed with my (white) girlfriend who was dressed slightly better than me and were not given the option of where to sit within the rest of the customers in the wide open area of the restaurant.

Instead we were told to sit in the bar area, aside from everyone. This usually wouldn't be an issue for me as I enjoy a less crowded space. However, I did notice anyone else who did not look like me, invited to the more esthetically pleasing area of the restaurant without hesitation. There were plenty of empty tables for us to be seated in but weren't even given the option to sit within the rest of the predominantly white customers.

Barrio Latino is an average restaurant and by no means 5 star. Yet, in 2023 as a LATINO I felt discriminated against as if my money wasn't good enough. Additionally, I am a law enforcement officer who deals with criminals all day. To then be treated like a criminal with subpar and discriminatory service by other hispanics. I may not be a white hispanic but I am a hard working man , putting my life on the line to keep all safe. I deserve the same treatment they give to the snobby people that eat there and who definitely don't tip well.

I know this won't change. I just hope that anyone of my skin color will not go in there with any expectations. If it were legal they'd tell all darker skinned people that they are not welcome. To say the least I simply walked out without...

Our server was horrible. Very inexperienced, unprofessional, and straight up rude. Did not catch her name (she barely greeted us), but she was short with a black ponytail and just gave negative energy from the beginning. We’ve been here several times and always have had a great experience, but this lady ruined it all in a span of 25 minutes. She didn’t know the drinks, she told us to go to the bar to check what whiskey they had, and her demeanor was of a person not wanting to be there. We ordered a medium rare New York strip, and it came out raw. When we kindly brought it up to her, she told us medium rare was raw. Specifically “crudo”, and to my native Spanish speakers that directly translates to raw. We’ve come here several times and have ordered medium rare with no issue. It is the fact that she told me “búscalo en el teléfono”, rolled her eyes, and took the steak with such an attitude that just is not ok to treat any human being. As fellow servers ourselves we are familiar with steak temperatures as well as how to treat customers. I very much so pulled up a picture and showed her. The restaurant itself is great atmosphere and food. I do not blame the restaurant, I blame her. We were table 48 and the receipt says her name was Darlin. Deserves a write up and...
