This place was truly impressive, did something I've never done before and went back for lunch the very next day becausewe couldn'tstop talking about the food. The staff was friendly, the sushi was beyond amazing, the prices were reasonable. Especially considering the quality of the fish and clearly expert sushi chefs.
Some of the best rolls were; caterpillar, Mr. Gump, Red Bull, ex-girlfriend (if you like spicy), Naruto (no rice cucumber wrapped), Kuma's special, Into the fire (flaming at your table). The unagi was great, as were bento boxes. My boyfriends spicy chicken was better than my chicken katsu so if your unsure go with spicy chicken. The jalapeño bombs were pretty spicy but so good. I couldn't stop eating them.
I lived in long beach a long time and traveled to major cities a ton for work. I've eaten at a lot of top sushi places and didn't expect to get blown out of the water here. However, it might be tied for the best sushi I've ever had. The excellent service really put it over the top the whole staff was kind, personable, and efficient. Even the hostess and sushi chefs were talkative...

Visited for dinner, I did, and most impressed, I was. The restaurant, warm and inviting it is—perfect for a casual meal or a gathering of allies.
With a trusted comrade, I dined, and together, the Spicy Salmon Lovers roll, we shared. Fresh, it was. Bursting with flavor, it remained. 🔥🐟 For our entrées, the Chicken Stir Fry and a Dragon Roll, we chose. Masterfully prepared, the stir fry was—flavors in perfect harmony, balanced as the Force should be. The Dragon Roll? A thing of beauty—artful in presentation, powerful in taste. 🍱🐉 A cup of miso soup, we also enjoyed, warming the soul like a Jedi meditation.
Exceptional, the staff was. Friendly and wise, they guided us well, ensuring our journey through the menu was smooth. Recommendations, they offered—most excellent, they were.
A truly fantastic experience, this was. Return, I shall, when next in the area. KUMA SUSHI—highly recommend it, I do, to all seeking balance between quality and flavor in Bakersfield...
Read moreI appreciate the response, but it still leaves me confused. If my wife and mom got their rolls, why would the kitchen move on to a large table's order before finishing mine? That part doesn’t really add up and kind of makes it feel personal.. like my order was intentionally skipped or forgotten.
I came in with my wife and mother for what was supposed to be a nice lunch, but I honestly left feeling uncomfortable. Our server almost walked away before I even got to place my order, forgot my drink, and my rolls didn’t come out until the others were nearly finished eating, despite the kitchen clearly running smoothly. I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had somehow offended someone. I’m not sure if it was intentional or just an off day, but it really made the experience feel personal in a way that didn’t sit right. I hope that wasn’t the case, but it was definitely...
