Update 8/24. Won’t EVER be back. What a mess I experienced today. I have never been treated so rudely by staff anyone locally in kern and these waitresses rush you! The only familiar faces I saw from last weekends visit was a cook. But this place really rubbed me the wrong way. Service was slow and took forever just for coffee and waters. once the waitress did finally get back to us she complained that it was busy and there’s new staff and told us to just be patient. I didn’t feel comfortable after that but was already there and waited. this place is way too small to be that disorganized. Everyone running round like chickens with their heads cut off. Taking back my 5 star review and will be going back to my favorite place in town, 24th street cafe!
I dined here for the first time on Sunday and boy oh boy was I impressed. This place is sort of hidden but in okay with that because there was no line and the service was so delightful I can’t wait to come back. Miss Kayla took amazing care of me. She was spot on with helping me decide on what to eat. Can’t wait to come back to see her and eat at my new favorite...
Read moreCooks in the back didn't perform proper food handling: wiped hands on apron, touched cooked and uncooked food carelessly, surfaces were never wiped down properly, I saw pancake batter be left out on the counter and never placed back in the fridge after opening the large pack. As a manager in the food industry, I see this leads to the increase of pathogens which causes foodborne illness. I came in with a friend and he got sick shortly after eating. Food wasn't cooked properly on his dish but mine was pretty good. I came in again to speak to a manager but there was no dedicated manager on duty to speak with. This tells me there is nobody ensuring that proper food handling is implemented, lack of accountability and professionalism due to no authority figure in the restaurant to ensure all customers' concerns and complaints are properly heard and processed. Our first time here and we will never come back. The menu made the food look appetizing but it never met our expectations. I hope there is improvement in this...

I stopped at this restaurant near Highway 99, set back off California Ave, on a whim—big mistake. The atmosphere was uninspired: a wide-open space with tables, chairs, and a few booths, but no decor to speak of.
I ordered scrambled eggs, hash browns, and rye toast. The eggs tasted off from the first bite, the hash browns were drowning in grease, and the toast was so stale I could barely eat it. I left disappointed, but I had no idea how much worse things would get.
About an hour after leaving, my stomach started hurting. By the time I got home, I could barely stand. I spent the next 24 hours in bed, writhing in pain, unable to throw up but wishing I could.
This experience was enough to make me rethink ever trying a random restaurant again. If you value your health, I’d strongly recommend...
