18-8 Sushi is new in the area, and is a welcome addition. A little more "upscale" feeling than nearby Yama sushi, much like the rest of the new Rotunda businesses. A large bar, and modern styling inside.

Staff was excited, attentive, and helpful.

I ordered the shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings). They came out hot, well made, and with great texture. There were large pieces of shrimp in the dumpling, which was a welcome addition to the normal ground shrimp in most shumai.

My lunch was 4 pieces of sushi (Tomago, Striped Bass, Freshwater Eel, and Yellowtail). At $3 per piece, the pieces were on the small side, but very high quality. Fresh. Tasty. Tried to order Spanish Mackeral and Red Snapper - but supply was an issue. Not upset as no fish is better than old fish.

The rolls ordered were Secret Lover and Fire Island. Both well made with very fresh ingredients. Only complaint with the Secret Lover was the jalepeno was laid on top and easily fell off - also the jalepeno was not seeded, so of you aren't expecting that extra heat or texture, beware! The rolls were definitely on the small side, with Yama, Nanami, and Sticky Rice all featuring much larger special rolls. If you normally eat two rolls, think of ordering a third here.

While small, all the food was tasty, and came to a total of $48, only ordering water to drink. Not the best value for the meal - but still a great addition to the Rotunda and a great date location to enioy well made sushi and a few drinks...

I hate to write this as I don't like bashing businesses, it pains me, but after reading some of the other reviews, I'm worried about people's health. I didn't report them for the same reason I mentioned above .. I don't like kicking independently owned businesses. But so many people mention getting food poisoning here and I did as well. I ordered their sushi, ate it, and about 2 hrs later began vomiting profusely. After that, I couldn't eat anything at all other than small bits of toast, saltines, and ginger ale, or exercise for 6 weeks. Had to go to the ER and deal with a huge bill. After 6 weeks I was finally able to eat normally again. That was about six months ago and now I've had constant unbearable nausea and can hardly eat anything for about a week and a half now. Google says you can have "relapses" after food poisoning.. what a nightmare. Feeling constantly nauseous with your diet and lifestyle restricted (can't exercise) is a nightmare! When will this nightmare end? I just want my life back and for whatever I've been poisoned with to leave my body for good 😥. I'm sorry for anyone else who also got food poisoning here. I'm...

Read the 1-star reviews.

Food and service are low quality. I ordered teriyaki shrimp and salmon & fire island sushi roll - little to no sauce and lacking flavor. Oh, one piece of broccoli. It's +$3 for another piece. The sushi roll was also bland. I understand sushi is not seasoned; yet, sushi tastes like something. This roll was bland. It was supposed to be spicy with jalapeno... they used green peppers. I was hoping the food would make the unpleasant service worth it but sadly no.

The place is clean and pretty. The owner is always short and rude. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but she's not friendly/approachable at all. There's little to no wait staff - she runs it with her small kids and sometimes a few other teenage/young girls. I did not see people actively wiping down surfaces. I saw her young son run out with food for the sushi bar and use his nasty little finger to move the food from one bowl to another. Needless to say, I did not...

Came here on a Friday after work (around 7pm) and there was a nice moderate crowd. I was a little alarmed by the kid directing us to the bar area for a seat, but its a family business and he was very good at his job! The sushi is divine!! It's a great size portion and reasonably priced. The drinks are beautiful, not too strong, and you can still taste your liquor while enjoying the additional flavors. Every ingredient is listed in the menu along with accurate pictures, which is a great help in case you have allergies or are used to ordering one thing and it comes out looking like another. They have tvs and play a mixed genre of music. The gentleman beside us came alone and happily enjoyed a glass of wine and watched the Orioles baseball game. This place is a little slice of heaven. Great energy, and a lovely place to strike conversations should you come alone. They also have take out. I had an excellent experience here and I am definitely coming back for more!
