So, my fiancé, daughter and myself came to Baltimore from DC today to visit the aquarium. While we were here we decided to visit Crafty Crab because we love the Waldorf and District Heights locations much! Man, man, man, what a mistake. Let me start with the good things first. There was no wait and the staff was very nice. That’s it. As for the bad........we asked to be seated upstairs. A young lady who works the hostess stand said that she would ask her manager if that was okay. She NEVER came back to say yay or nay! After a while, my family and I just decided to sit at the table closet to us. Secondly, our waiter seemed a bit confused about the menu. I found myself delegating the order. Furthermore, he brought me the wrong drink twice! Next, I ordered over a pound of seafood and we did not get corn or potatoes in our bag (which we were supposed to). After bringing this to my waiters attention, it took the kitchen staff about 15 minutes to bring it out. By that time our meal was almost done. We weren’t given a bucket for our scraps. I have to mention that my fiancé never received a drink refill. His cup sat empty for a good amount of time. The food was mediocre. Nothing special. Eventually the bill came, and it had a built in tip!🤣🤣. Whatttt??? How can you force me to pay 18% for a subpar dining experience? Moving forward I’ll stick to the Crafty Crab locations in my area. There seemed to be a bit of confusion all the way around. Hope management sees this and makes an effort to tighten the customer service up. Oh, & the cashier staff mentioned that their drawer came up $300 short last night. That information is only supposed to be discussed in house. Patrons should never know that...
Read moreLet me start by saying the wait staff were amazing and attentive the manager on the other hand was extremely dismissive. Just going to list the issues I encountered yesterday evening and the manager response to the main issue.
You are suppose to receive 2-3 corns in your bag depending on what bag special you get. They take ONE corn cob and cut it into 3’s. Extremely cheap and misleading. They are charging full price for additional corn on the cobs (3 to be exact) but you get 3 pieces of one corn on the cob. Very cheap and misleading.
The bags are very small and not true to weigh.
The biggest concern is the butter. It taste like margarine. If you cook you know that margarine has a distinct taste vs. what butter taste like. Even the cheapest made butter taste better than margarine. I spoke to the manager and he said it tasted fine to him when he sampled it (he did get me a new butter cup). He said maybe it tasted different to me due to me being use to a different brand of butter. I could tell he was annoyed so I dropped it. I knew he would not admit that something was up with the butter. I heard several patrons complaining among themselves that the butter tasted weird and that it typically does not taste like that. So I know my i complaint was not unfounded.
They build in the tip , which is very annoying because your server does not get the tip fully. They have to split it with everyone working.
Overall this place is super cheap, I didn’t even finish my bag because of the weird tasting butter and it’s overpriced. I would recommend more established crab places around the...
Read moreOur waiter was great. Attentive, fast, funny. If the food was half as good as he, I'd tell you .
Anyone giving this restaurant anything above a 2 star rating for the food must never have had good food.
Went with friends for dinner. I ordered the crab cake dinner ($25). It was obvious nothing on my plate was made in house and came from frozen from a food service company. I've had better quality from Safeway's frozen food section.
The crab cake was mush. No identifiable crab in these babies. I've served my cat canned food with more texture. The hush puppies were flavorless balls of fried batter. The onion rings were prepared with a flour and water mixture and the absolute worst quality I've ever seen in a frozen ring.
I managed to get the four small onion rings down, 3 little hush puppies (thanks to the mustard sauce that came on the plate), and 1/2 a crab cake. I would have stopped at one bite, but I was starving.
I asked my friends if they'd like to try the crab cakes and there wasn't one show of hands among the 7 of them. I asked how their food was and the consensus was "it was ok, interesting after taste".
Nobody asked about dessert. We were ready to get out and grab some donuts and chips at the sketchy convenience store two blocks down. Nobody said they'd return. It was simply convenient to our hotels.
Of course, I don't know if there's a trained chef on staff but, if there is, he must be humiliated by the limitations put on him by his food budget. New management might solve some issues.
In short, stay away. There's a Cheesecake Factory not far away. You'll find...
