I wanted to love it here. A local bar with great reviews and a great menu. We walked into a mostly empty bar. The floors were gross and there was dust everywhere. The first bartender barely acknowledged us. The second one was polite but immediately announced that this was a locals bar, which made me feel like she was telling me we weren’t welcome. Then it happened. A male bartender came over, in filthy clothes, reeking of weed and cigarette smoke. He spent 20 minutes interfering with our lunch. At one point he asked me if he could have some of the blue cheese off my plate. He was angry and aggressive and at one point even got into an argument with bartender number 2. He stood right by us telling us all of his personal business and asking if we were religious people.

After we ate we still had wine left and so we asked if we could go outside to finish it. A friend met us and we told her about our experience. She clearly didn’t believe us. Until the guy came outside and started to do all the same things.

It’s a shame because the food was good and it had great potential. I enjoy sitting at the bar and interacting with people but this was a horrible bar experience. We will...

Speaking of which .. yesterday while we were looking around for a decently priced and less than overly greased menu for Sunday brunch .. we discovered something of a well kept secret spot down south of Federal Hill and over towards Tide Point where a guy named Dan Macatee has run the Hull Street Blues Cafe for 35 years. He learned about gumbo and red beans and rice down in Slidell LA about 45 years ago and sets up a pretty row of scrambles, tossed potatoes, smoked trout and greens, caesar salad, savory bacon and sausage, baked ham, braised wings and pork loin, biscuits and cakes beside the gumbo and the beans and rice and .. yes .. buttermilk pancakes and french toast for under $20 + drinks and tip! We lingered for at least 1 1/2 hours maybe 2 and before we left the place was rockin' to "You Never Can Tell" by Chuck Berry. Best of all was the brick hearth fireplace and bin of seasoned oak splits that we sat beside .. Dan's youngish daughter Lilly was the true mark of this man Dan Macatee's luck and genius and we will surely go back there to sit at his table and be served by her as soon as...

While on our wedding anniversary weekend getaway, my wife and I stumbled onto/into this place by chance. While walking back to our hotel from Fort McHenry, we walked through the Locust Point neighborhood and on a hot and humid day, needed to get some refreshments and sit for a bit. The name and it’s quaint appearance attracted us immediately and we weren’t disappointed. The second we walked through the door, we were welcomed warmly by the bartender, Jade and her father. They made us feel right at home, like we were neighborhood regulars and helped us decide on our refreshment choices. After a second round of refreshments and good conversation, we had to head back to get ready for dinner reservations, but our time in Hull Street was a definite highlight of our trip. Highly...

Stopped by for a drink and some snacks after a visit to the Fort McHenry National Shrine! We walked in the door and were immediately greeted by the owner and some great locals at the bar. Beers all around and a high top in the window facing Hull St. We had onion rings and the seafood nachos! Outstanding start! The owner for 40 years, Dan came by to check on us and gave us some history of the bar and the characters adorning the bar! I had the Hull St burger and my mates had the cheesesteak and a burger. Everything was as ordered, delicious and the service was on point. If you want a great Baltimore spot for an outstanding, friendly bar and dining experience, this is the place! Thanks Dan!

Came in for lunch while it was quiet. I thought I liked the atmosphere until I saw how dirty the glasses were on the shelf. One of the photos shows what could either be a layer of dust or grime on the glasses. And they were immediately beneath dirty old bottles, which I assume is decor, but looked gross next to the glasses they do use. Shrimp sandwich was fine, though the bun was dry and fell apart quickly, leaving me to eat the shrimp with a fork. The Philly cheesesteak is not a Philly cheesesteak. It had sandwich veggies and cheddar cheese. It was not great.

Everything we ordered except for the chicken was absolute garbage. The pasta was dry, no sauce, and no flavor. The pasta had a paste like texture. The crab mac was so dry and was not cheesy, it was if powdered cheese was used. The powered cheese taste was strong lingered " it was absolutely disgusting". The crab cake was flat and over fried, the rice was dry without flavor or butter and the brussell sprouts were charred and crispy. It was a complete waste of $110 and we ended up having to go somewhere else and eat.
