I stumbled upon Matriarch Coffee this morning while exploring the harbor. I've been on the hunt for my go-to Baltimore coffee spot, and I can say with confidence that this place is in the running. I got my usual order: an iced coffee with caramel and half-and-half. Matriarch was the first place in Baltimore that asked if I wanted caramel sauce or caramel syrup, which made me so happy. I'll concede that the coffee was a little pricey, albeit in line with most DC spots (my medium coffee was $5.30 including tax, before tip). Hands down the best part about this place is the owner, who was chatting up guests and making them feel welcome. Today was a soft opening, but apparently Matriarch opens full time starting the week of March 25th (opening week for the Os). Let's show this place some love, Baltimore. It deserves it!

FOOD: Only really tried the coffee and tea...but that's the point! Wife really enjoyed her "Over the Moon" blue matcha tea and said the lemon sweet tea wasn't bad either. My iced caramel latte was delicious both times we went (two days in a row because it was so refreshing)! SERVICE: Baristas were polite and helpful both times. Owner was present and involved: When a transient/vagrant individual entered and attempted to disturb the customers, he handled the situation swiftly, professionally, and compassionately. ATMOSPHERE: The establishment itself is small, but it's location right on the center of the Inner Harbor is sublime. It makes for a nice shady stop if you need a refresher as you're sightseeing. Would highly recommend! Matriarch is an instant staple for any future visit we make to Baltimore.

We visited Matriarch coffee fir the first time this morning. Two staff members provided amazing customers service. Very attentive as they answered our questions & brought our food & drink to the table. They are creating a customized experience for their customers, how refreshing! We got the coffee drink in the picture above & a bagel. I can’t remember the name but it tastes like chocolate covered strawberries. Bold flavor & you can taste the coffee flavor as well. Very impressive! You should stop by & check it out!!! I’m hoping to stop by tomarrow to try the bourbon barrel flavored coffee before we head back to Pittsburgh! Check out this minority owned small business. They are doing amazing things!!

The Matriarch, located right by the Inner Harbor, is a stylish spot that blends cozy and chic. The interior has a darker color palette with black paint, but thanks to plenty of natural light from the large windows, it still feels open and welcoming. There are two distinct seating sections, giving you options whether you’re looking to see out into the harbor more closely with one other person or have larger table options more inside.

The staff was friendly, and the drink menu is extensive—you can see the full list in the photo I’ve attached. I went with the Iced Strawberry Blush Matcha from their Spring Awakening seasonal section. At $8.50 for a 20 oz drink, it included green matcha, oat milk, strawberry sauce, and honey—a fair price considering oat milk was already included. The matcha was smooth and well-balanced, and I was especially impressed by the strawberry syrup, which tasted more natural and less artificial than most.

I didn’t try any food this time, but based on this first experience, I’d definitely come back to try another drink. If you’re looking for a well-crafted beverage near the harbor in a chill, modern space, The Matriarch is...

I recently visited this coffee shop, having heard great things about their coffee, and was excited to try it. However, my experience was significantly impacted by their lack of punctuality. According to their posted hours, they open at 8:00 a.m., but when I arrived at 8:56 a.m., the shop was still closed.

I understand that occasional delays happen, but in today’s competitive market, consistency and reliability are crucial for business success. As a customer, it can be frustrating to make the effort to visit a place that doesn’t adhere to its advertised hours. Supporting businesses that aren’t prompt or respectful of their own time commitments becomes increasingly difficult, especially when other options are available.

For any business in 2025, it is important to value punctuality and transparency in order to maintain customer trust and loyalty. I hope they can improve their operational practices to better align with the expectations set by their hours...

Alright, buckle up for a rave review! Matriarch Coffee - Harborplace Cafe isn't just a coffee shop; it's an experience. From the moment you step inside, the aroma alone signals you're in for something special. And let me tell you, the coffee lives up to the hype – rich, bold, and brewed to absolute perfection. Seriously, it's the best cup I've had in the area, hands down.

But it's not just about the incredible coffee; the service is top-notch too. The staff are genuinely friendly and efficient, making you feel welcome and valued even during a busy rush. My order was taken quickly and delivered with a smile. This isn't just a grab-and-go spot; it's a place where you can actually enjoy a moment of your day. Five stars all the way! If you're anywhere near Harborplace, do yourself a favor and make Matriarch Coffee your go-to. You...
