Our experience at the Renaissance Watertable for a party of 12 was nothing short of a disaster. Although the restaurant was practically empty, we were seated directly outside a banquet hall. Shortly after we were seated, a birthday party event commenced. The bar for this event was located right outside the banquet room doors, which remained wide open for the entire duration of our meal. The music was blasting, rendering any attempt at conversation at our table utterly futile. We immediately brought this issue to the attention of our waitress, hoping for a solution. Her response was a dismissive "there's nothing I can do." Undeterred, we requested to speak with the manager, hoping a higher authority could intervene. The manager echoed the waitress's sentiment, stating that the banquet manager was in charge of the event and that she was powerless to assist us. Despite our repeated requests to speak with the banquet manager directly, this individual never once made an appearance to address our concerns. We were completely ignored and left to endure the deafening noise and disruptive atmosphere. If you are considering dining at the Renaissance Watertable, particularly on a Saturday evening, I would strongly advise you to call ahead and inquire about any scheduled events. Based on our experience, it is clear that the restaurant prioritizes large, loud events over the comfort and enjoyment of their regular dining patrons. They clearly do not care about the experience of those not part of the banquet, and are unwilling to take even basic steps to mitigate the impact of such events on their restaurant guests. Our special occasion dinner was completely overshadowed by the inconsiderate management and the deafening noise. We left feeling frustrated, unheard, and deeply disappointed. Avoid the Renaissance Watertable on a Saturday night unless you enjoy shouting across the table and being completely disregarded...
Read moreMy family and I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel, and our goal for the morning was to enjoy some breakfast before we explored the Aquarium. Upon arriving to The Watertable, we were greeted by a sign that informed you of the buffet prices. No big deal, I am sure the quality of the food and service would match the higher-than-average price for a downtown breakfast buffet. Boy was I wrong. Let’s get started: No one greeted us when we approached the entrance. We stood there, just waiting. Finally two minutes into waiting (and poking our heads in the dining room) we were greeted and then led to a table. No apology for the wait.. The table was ready for us, but it was dirty. Apparently someone set the table but never cleaned it. No apology for the dirty table.. We sat and waited for our waitress/waiter to arrive. No one showed up, I noticed two of them running around attending to other tables. But no one visited our table to take our drink order. The buffet was disappointing. Thin bacon, dehydrated eggs, and super dry potatoes. All of this, for $22.95. No omelet station, no fresh eggs, no waffle maker, and no coffee station. When we got back to our table, we still had to flag down someone to take our drink order. And by the time our drink arrived, we were mostly done with our plates. And of course, obtaining our bill and paying for it, took an obscene amount of time. I understand that in today’s times, staff are short, quality can be hit or miss, and people are trying their best. But there is NO WAY that this place can charge its customers $22.99 for that buffet and service. TL:DR The Watertable is overpriced, under staffed, and falls extremely short on delivering a quality breakfast buffet. Families look elsewhere, it’s...
Read moreNote: I sent this information to the Sales Coordinator, Dara, and did not receive a response. I find that very unprofessional considering I believe she had a lot to do with the concerns I have with Watertable.
I hosted a small surprise brunch at Watertable and I think there were a few miscommunications that hindered the day from going as smoothly as I had hoped.
When my guests arrived, they were told a reservation under my name did not exist, which caused a bit of confusion. Eventually, I spoke to Tim who was able to assist and quickly set up the room however, he was not aware our group was coming at all. Being that this was a surprise event, time was extremely important so this did hold us back a bit. Additionally, upon arrival we were told the restaurant was actually closing at 11am-- the same time my guests were set to arrive.
The brunch menu listed on the website, which I believe I also confirmed with Dara, was not available. I don't believe this was ever mentioned during our conversations. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the food however, the menus were printed crooked, making them difficult to read. Additionally, I confirmed the $20/person brunch and $10/person unlimited mimosas but upon arrival, I was told the bar was locked and the person who was able to unlock the bar was not even working that day.
With all of the hiccups, the event still went on however, I feel what I expected was a bit different than what was provided. A huge thank you to Tim who helped get the room set up as well as Tim C, our waiter, and the chef who got our food out to...
