So I’m dashing. I tell the guy the name.. He says I’m the 4th person to come for the order. I call Dash. They calls the store. A girl walks pass the phone and I’m like hi.. That’s door dash on the phone. Plz answer it. She nods and say yes. Dash get back on the phone and says they didn’t answer so they gonna cancel the order. Meanwhile, the customer texted me to ask if I was there and that she’s been waiting over a hour.
So another lady come from the back. I ask Dash to hold on so I can find out why the girl didn’t answer. The older lady yells cause she was in the back and she was busy! I said first off don’t yell at me! Second, I wasn’t even talking to you! I was talking to her! So the guy who originally told me it was picked up, comes out and asks what’s going on? I told him what happened. I asked Dash to call back again so the guy answered.
Long story short, I was there for 30 mins. Once the food was ready I asked if she was a supervisor. He had the audacity to tell me she was the owner! I had to apologize to him cause she is extremely rude and ignorant! Like I didn’t order anything. I’m just trying to do anyone would want done for them.
Like if you placed a order and was waiting over a hour, you would want someone to do exactly what I did! Got the nerve to be getting smart but don’t even want to clean the damn store pr even put a cooling fan in there!
I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM 0 stars if that was a option! 🙄😒
Moral of the story… IT BE...
Read moreFirst, let me say that I do enjoy African foods, from the west coast nations mostly. I have experienced 4 different African restaurants in the Baltimore area and am the least satisfied with Platinum Amala Spot. I paid $14.99 for the Goat Meat Stew and got 4 pieces of meat and by mass, half of those 4 pieces were nothing but un-eatable fat. Either someone is incompetent in buying meat or someone is just pure greedy. I get a full bowl of curry goat meat for just $10.99 at our local Jamaican restaurant. This poor level of service is what keeps African restaurants from gaining any type of success. I fully expect this one to fail within a year or 2. And this will be met with sad applause.
Another thing. You should stop asking if "you want it together" as in America it implies that you're asking if I'm paying for both dishes when ordering 2 or more, not that I want to put all the orders on one plate. We by default expect each order to be contained in a separate container. I have found that in Washington D.C any visited African restaurant provides better services and goods than Amala. If you all cannot up your game, then 1-2 years is...
Read moreI see some people complaining about the jollof rice and honestly idk what they’re talking about. Platinum amala literally makes the BEST jollof rice in all of baltimore, if you’re looking for that REAL, AUTHENTIC NAIJA PARTY JOLLOF then this is the only place u need to visit (lol this is coming from someone who actually lived in Nigeria). I have tried a lot of items on their menu from the gizdodo, ewa egoyin, ponmo alata and even the suya is good. I have been eating from platinum amala for years now and I honestly don’t think I have ever had a “bad” meal from them.
I have tried every single Nigerian restaurant in Baltimore ( Kuramo, posi, suya spot, name it I have probably been there at least once) I can confidently say platinum amala is in a league of its own. If I had to rank all of the Nigerian restaurant in the dmv, platinum amala is definitely at least one of the top three if not the best!
The only con is that is a family owned business and I think sometimes they’re short staffed and the wait time can be a bit much but u can also order on DoorDash and uber eats and have someone else...
