I came to this place with some hesitation at the suggestion of a friend as Pho options for vegetarians are generally mediocre at best, but Red Boat has definitely raised the bar. It is a medium-sized, order-at-counter restaurant, and it was not crowded on a Monday night with plenty of seating available. I ordered the Tom Yum Pho (100% Vegan) and added fried tofu (total ~$13). This Pho was a lemongrass & Chilli paste flavored soup with mushrooms, basil leaf, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cilantro & onions served with lemon, jalapenos, and bamboo shoots. The dish was clearly made to order and the ingredients used were pretty fresh, which was pretty impressive for a fast food type place. Similar to the other reviews about this vegetarian Pho, I was seriously impressed with the broth they offered!! Many places fail to deliver on vegetarian broths, but this tom yum broth had flavor-packed punches throughout the entire bowl; not an ounce of it remained by the time I finished. Their noodles were pretty good, the vegetables tasted relatively fresh, and the tofu was fried pretty well. I think the only change I would make is for the dish to be just slightly less sour. Additionally, the cashier was kind and helpful, and their check-out process is well-organized and quick. I think the only negative aspect of the restaurant was locked bathrooms that require getting a key on a spatula. However, the entire place seemed pretty new and very clean as well, so overall environment of this place was great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, especially for those vegetarians searching the winter for a comforting, flavorful Pho, and I look forward to going back!

The good: the food is pretty tasty. Unfortunately that's really the only redeeming factor. The price is high for the portion size. Just as an example, bottles of water are $3. And the fried spring rolls - which are smaller than a $1.50 egg roll you'd get at a Chinese takeout place - are also $3 a piece. You'll get much much better value at the nearby Maiwand or Qdoba. They don't have working bathrooms. That fact is made all the worse when they give you a straw coated in something sticky, and there's no place to wash your hands. The whole store is generally in junky shape. I asked to pay some portion of the bill with cash and the rest with a card. The guy said we'd have to handle the card portion first, then after charging the card he reveals that he put the full bill on the card and didn't know how to include the cash. And after the generally poor service, they have the gall to offer you the option to tip 30% at a spot where you order from a counter and seat yourself. Overall, I recommend avoiding the spot.

Bun Bo Hue was excellent. Broth rich flavorful, comes with brisket and good quality meatballs, not the chewy fat meatballs that some Vietnamese place give you. They allowed me to substitute eye round steak instead of brisket. No charge. Otherwise extra meat is $5. Got food really fast. And they exceeded my and my vegetarian wife's expectations. Also had bulgogi platter (pic) another visit. Meat was great. Cabbage was great. Wife (and I) loved her veg pho (pic) which is essentially a thai Tom Yum (lemongrass ) soup with vegies. She added tofu which is in that small bowl (pic). Tofu spring roll were better than I expected. Tofu was intentionally overcooked to make it a little more dense like chicken and it actually had some flavor as opposed to other places we've experienced. Some city riff raff came in and hassled staff on our first visit. Even across from the Hippodrome unfortunately still some desperate people floating around.

If you're craving authentic Vietnamese flavors, this place is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you step inside, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere sets the stage for a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers a fantastic range of traditional Vietnamese dishes, each prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The Pho here is undoubtedly a standout—rich, aromatic broth with tender slices of beef or chicken, and perfectly cooked noodles. The garnishes of fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime really bring everything together. Whether you're a pho connoisseur or a newcomer to the dish, it’s sure to impress. The Banh-mi sandwiches are absolutely best of all the cuisine. The lemongrass chicken is delicious along with banh-mi with garnished coriander and daikon. The service is also top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and eager to help guide you through the menu if you're unsure what to order. The portions are generous, and prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and authenticity. Overall, this Vietnamese restaurant has everything you need for an amazing meal: delicious food, great ambiance, and stellar service....

Below average pho but that isn't enough to warrant a poor review.

It's a shame when the owners of a place invests so much into a restaurant only to have the front of the house staff ruin the experience by being incredibly rude.

After walking in, the hostess stared at me without a word. I asked if I could sit down. "If you want." I asked if she was ok and she scoffed at me. Literally scoffed.

Sitting there I thought it would be best to leave but I didn't want to make an early judgement just because of 1 person so I stayed and ordered.

The pho flavor was not bad. Very standard and nothing I would've written about. The meat pieces were very small and including parking costs, high cost of pho, tax and tip, expect at least 20$ for a regular bowl of pho which is very expensive imo.

The food came in a small plastic bowl.

There is no way I am ever coming back here again.

Why put yourself through this when Mekongs world class pho is so close with the friendly husband and wife duo working hard at the counter. (Much...
