I didn't want to leave any stars but Google requires it:
I was visiting Maryland and because I enjoy the Arts, this studio was recommended to me and I wanted to visit to support the black own business and gallery. During my visit on 4/25/25, I was able to buy hats, shirts and a pair of pants; however I noticed during the transaction, the person helping me (Marshall) kept picking up his cell phone and holding it towards the digital register. I immediately felt uneasy and somewhat suspicious of his behavior. As I left the shop I told my cousin I felt he was doing something to compromise my bank card and as soon as I got in the car I logged into my account and turned off the card, therefore the card could not be use any further. I didn't turn the card back on and used another card for other transactions for the remainder of my trip.
Less than 24 hours later, I got alerts from my back regarding potential fraud on the card I turned off, the card had been skimmed. Attempts to use the card with an IP addresses in Japan and in Los Angeles (Victoria Secret). I am so glad I followed my instinct and turned the card off.
My disappointment is that this experience placed a dark overcast on my first visit to support the black business. I love the clothing and artwork showcased. however the behavior of Marshall (Black Rod) was deplorable. I tried several times to call the business to report the behavior of the employee, but no one answers and the voicemail is full.
Take cash, don't use...
Read moreThe Black Genius Art Show (TBGAS) is a brand that truly allows creatives and art enthusiasts to share in the experience. Not a "show" literally, but figuratively. The brand is more than just an artist and his paintings but it's a collaboration of the artist and the communities his art reaches (nationally and internationally). If you're looking for a gallery space to visit in Baltimore MD, purchase original artwork, an event space to host a small-intimate gathering, quality custom clothes/accessories, educational opportunities for the youth and young at heart, work space as an artist, or even to collaborate on potential projects, TBGAS/Genius Guice Studios is the...
