Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pier 5, Baltimore, Maryland I recently attended a remarkable event at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Pier 5, Baltimore, hosted for the LLS Society on Saturday, March 29, 2025. From start to finish, the afternoon was a flawless celebration of fine dining and heartfelt connections, making it a truly unforgettable experience. The private room was elegantly arranged for our gathering of nearly 100 guests, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and inviting. The fixed menu offered a delightful array of options, and every dish was made to order, cooked precisely to our requests. The timing of the meal was exceptional, perfectly aligning with the Self Care Advocacy meeting, which showcased the staff's impressive coordination and teamwork. It was heartening to see the impacted staff actively listening to personal stories from guests about their experiences with blood cancers, fostering a sense of community and support throughout the evening. Now, let’s talk about the food! Everything served was on point. The petite filet mignon was tender and cooked to perfection, living up to the high standards one expects from Ruth's Chris. The spicy salmon topped with crispy shrimp was a delightful surprise; the combination of flavors and textures was a definite standout, proving that this steakhouse knows how to impress beyond just beef. The stuffed chicken breast, stuffed with garlic herb cheese and drizzled with lemon-thyme butter, was equally delightful and did not disappoint. For the sides, we enjoyed family-style servings of creamy mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli, both of which complemented our entrees beautifully. And to cap off the meal, the chocolate sin cake was a decadent finale that left everyone raving. The addition of valet parking made the experience even more convenient and memorable. It's clear that Ruth's Chris Steak House at Pier 5 not only excels in culinary artistry but also prioritizes guest experience. Regardless of your personal favorite steakhouse, Ruth's Chris deserves a top spot on your list. I cannot recommend this dining experience highly enough and look forward to returning for another unforgettable meal!

So usually I have no issues with Ruth’s Chris pier 5 . I have no issues with the pairings, service , nothing . But last night … the service was subpar . Dontae and Courtney we very attentive . My food took a little longer than usual and that was ok as well . So tae was training and still showed up and out with his service . Now here came my issue . My mother is 73 years old and wears caps because she gets cold easily. Her little hat was polka dot and the hostess asked her to remove it . Ok policy is no hats. I get it . We had people walking in there with crocs and ugg slides . Torn jean jackets and graphic tees . Say something to everyone or nobody . pick you battles and don’t pick people who you feel won’t give you any backlash on you enforcing policy . I was already seated at the bar and my mother told me why she took her hat off when we were leaving or I would have said something right in the moment . Second issue . I threw a dinner party in June which qualified me to receive promotional gift cards . At the end of our visit one of the gift cards didn’t work . The manager sent dontae over to tell us that we could pay the difference and get the other gift card back or we could just leave the other gift card and the bill would be taken care of .why would I want a gift card that’s obviously faulty ? The balance would have been 24 dollars no big deal but I needed someone to come over and explain why It wouldn’t work because $24 would bring me back for a cocktail and more to spend it . The manager never came over to talk with us . That’s not Ruth Chris pier 5 standard . I’ve always had the manager come over and speak with us just to check in on the service . Thats poor customer service to have us sit there for 35 minutes and never come over to explain . If I didn’t train people for a living on how to 1 : pick your battles in policy . 2: communicate with your customers when something is not going normally (something you control or not ) be a presence and work it out .

Update 12/27/2019: My fiancee and I came back for another date night and wow! It was incredible. Some pepper for the caesar salad would have been good but I added it and delightful, the potatoes au gratin were a bit bland but my fiancee loved them lol. The real hero was the truly amazing and PERFECTLY cooked 6oz filet mignon I had with some shrimp and kale with ham. Oh! Also, the Tuna Tartare was incredible too. So flavorful and delicious. Upgraded from 3 stars to 5 (closer to 4.7) as the service was on point, food delicious, steaks perfectly cooked and just overall an entirely different experience that will definitely bring us back!!! Nicki Kern is the hero for bringing us back here and promising exactly what we got, a renewed experience with wonderful service and perfectly cooked food. Malika is the best waitress ever!!!

*update 9/16: A very wonderful manager named Nicki Kern called me and apologized and understood and heard me when she asked for arun down. I felt listened to and valued. I will be going back with my fiancee for a redo of a romantic meal in the very near future and she is mailing me information so that I can work with her to ensure the success. This is how you handle these things! Excellent follow up and I will update this review after we give it another shot :) so for now an update from 2 to 3 stars pending another try.

I've now been to some excellent steak houses, including Gordon Ramsay's Steak, and Ruth's Chris was mediocre at best. The service was just not on point. I made the reservation specifically for my fiancee's birthday asking for them to help it be a special dinner. Instead, we got slow enough service that if not there for his birthday, I would have left. We got water eventually, drinks took a while, bread eventually came out, then we asked for more and waited longer for bread than the appetizer we ordered 5 mins after requesting the bread. We eventually, about 10 to 15 minutes after our appetizer came out had to tell the waitress we were unhappy. By then, no bread, I was out of water and a drink just sitting there, and his drink was also almost empty. She's apologized and got us the water, the wrong order of bread (they have 2 types we asked for just the sourdough as we didn't like the other), and it again took significantly too long to get the drinks. On top of that, when the food came out my steak was so rare it may as well have been tartare when I ordered medium rare. They took the filet mignon I had cut up to check temp back to the kitchen, and not only did the kitchen just put that cut up filet mignon under their broiler, the manager brought that back to me and left it. I checked and of course the large chunk was still rare as could be and told the waitress. So my fiancee had to sit there feeling bad for enjoying his birthday meal while they mismanaged my food. Finally the manager apologized and brought a new steak, still under cooked but not as bad and so I just accepted it because their plates are so hot I just literally cooked the thing the rest of the way using the plate! The manager did comp the steak but for over $200 for a meal I cannot recommend this place or it's service, especially not the management to anyone. For those prices, go over to Gordon Ramsay's Steak at the Horseshoe Casino for the same area for excellent food, cooked to perfection, and with service...

I would've gave it zero stars, but the one star was for our server Miss Martinez and the great tasting steaks, I should of went to a Texas roadhouse(now I know) My sister-in-law, my two daughters and I had a reservation elsewhere and they had to cancel it due to a private event going on. So we were made to find somewhere else to enjoy our late Mother's Day dinner.5/13 MONDAY My daughter recommended Ruth's Chris. I called there, made a reservation for 7:30 PM. The host was extremely nice, when we arrived the host again greeted us. we were told to wait another five minutes and then we were sat promptly. When we walked into the dining room, we seen about five tables sat, and to the left of us There was a huge round table that had about three people sitting there waiting, which I assume was a start of a party. We were greeted by our amazing server, Ms. Martinez right away. she did her whole spiel of the story behind Ruth Chris and how they work. my sister-in-law ordered a bottle of Fiji water. It took about 25 minutes to get the bottle of water that they had to "chill." While waiting the rest of the "Party" of the round table start straggling in some were dress very inappropriate (Not business casual at all) they should have stopped than, they were running from the bar to the table. Cussing, yelling at the server. Jumping tables, their son was running around screaming. They shared the same server as we did along with 2 other tables Ms. Martinez had. Then she came back to get our order and gave us the "Chilled" FIji water. Our appetizer came out about 20 minutes after ordering, and the rest of our food came out an 1hour and 20 mins after ordering. I could see our server had some intense emotional flooding that she was forced to deal with because lack of Empathy from her "manager" and want to burst out into tears but she's held it together very well. The party was absurd! While all of this is taking place the manager stood behind the hostess stand with the hostess looking in our direction majority of the night. Not one time did she come to any other the tables updating us on why there's a delay. No compensation (we didn't expect it) Not a sorry, not evening a good night, also to add, I didn't see the manager "Linda" lift a finger until the party started complaining and she was made to go to the table to talk to them because they requested her. "Linda" set Ms. Martinez, and the rest of her colleagues up for failure! Poor excuse of a "Manager" If you knew that you had an large party to begin with you should've had your servers successful for your Monday night "crowd" I hope that our tip went along way with Miss Martinez because she deserved it! (poor women went in the corner to cry when we handed her her tip.) my heart broke. "Linda" I hope you needed that $380 more than we did $480 after tip was a huge waste! The steak did taste phenomenal and was very tender. Shout out to the cooks! Miss Martinez, get out while you can know you're...

Charged us DOUBLE the listed menu price and REFUSED TO HONOR the price listed on their menu.

This was our second visit to this location. It was a pretty slow Tuesday evening. We noticed it was taking a while to get drinks. Perhaps the bar was a little backed up and we just couldn't see from the dining room. At one point, the manager came to our table and asked how things were. We said it was good so far, but we were still waiting for our wine. Anyway, our dinner comes, and we still don't have our wine. Only after we completely finish eating dinner does our wine come. The worst part of the evening came when we got our check. The menu lists 2 4-5oz lobster tails for $49, which we ordered as a side to our steak. When the bill comes, we see that we were charged double for that and point out the mistake, and our server goes to take care of it. However, the manager then comes over and talks to us to tell us that their menu has changed, but they just haven't updated it. It is now $49 PER lobster tail, so the two tail add-on is now DOUBLE the cost. We explain that we did not know that given that is not what is listed on their menu and may have ordered differently. We asked if she would honor the listed price. She said no. Her justification was that the lobster we received were bigger than 4-5 oz. She was not even the LEAST bit apologetic for the misunderstanding, and conveyed the sense that WE were in the wrong. I mean, we order something only for you to tell us after the fact that you're going to charge us double? It was absolutely outrageous. (Side note: my lobster was a little overcooked and tough, but I didn't feel like it was something to make a fuss over). Charging DOUBLE THE PRICE for something listed on the menu and saying "we just haven't updated our menu yet" is so ridiculous. This "incorrect" price is also what is listed on their online menu the following day. If something on your menu is incorrect, you have an obligation to either note that on the menu or have servers make guests aware. Our server was not aware of this and was equally confused, and he was MUCH more apologetic than the manager. This location is clearly under poor management that cannot adequately update their menus or inform their staff of important changes. If she could have even apologized or acknowledged that this was misleading, that would have been nice. But no, she was like we've changed it and what we charged you is correct even though you had no idea about it, too bad. It made for a bitter end to our anniversary dinner.

Also, if you come by a table and they let you know they're still waiting on 2 glasses of wine, maybe help your staff out and pour a couple glasses if they're busy (although again, it was a Tuesday and seemed slow). As someone that used to work at a high end steakhouse myself, it is evident that the subpar management here is turning what should be a high-end dining experience into something far below...
