The Only Highlight of Our Baton Rouge Trip – Hot Stuff Is a Must-Visit!
Our trip to Baton Rouge was unfortunately filled with disappointment—from staying at the Belle of Baton Rouge (which I do not recommend: no breakfast, dirty rooms, and valet service that damaged our truck) to dealing with unhelpful hotel staff. But Hot Stuff was the one shining highlight that made our trip worthwhile.
We ended up eating here every single day—breakfast twice and lunch once—and every meal was absolutely phenomenal. The food is out of this world. If you go, I can’t recommend the French toast, omelets, pork chop, brisket, etc. We recommended our friends staying in the area to come and every plate was left empty! Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly, with real home-cooked flavor that you just can’t fake.
What truly made this place stand out, beyond the incredible food, was the welcoming and friendly staff, and the lovely owner who made us feel right at home. After the chaos and stress of our hotel experience, walking into Hot Stuff felt like a breath of fresh air.
If you're visiting Baton Rouge—especially if you're staying downtown—do yourself a favor and skip the hotel breakfast that doesn’t exist and come here instead. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. Hot Stuff is a must-visit gem, and I can honestly say it was the best part of our entire trip.
Side note: there’s a beautiful collection of mugs from around the world - so if you have one to add to the...
Read moreThe food wasnt bad. My main concern with this business, as a baton rouge native is they discriminate against native American women such as myself, I worked there for 1 day and I realized they were stealing tips from a lady who was from Guatemala who didn't speak much English or wasn't proficient in counting, I witnessed them take advantage of her and steal her tips as well as they took my own tips from my first day as well. I sucked it up but the more I paid attention the more I realized these people are hiding behind Jesus to do wicked evil deeds including stealing and getting over on those less fortunate. Of course when I spoke up about the lady being taken advantage of and I questioned them on my first day, they were intimidated and fired me without cause. They took 2 months to give me my check for 29 dollars, and they were so rude and ugly to me but they claim to be Christians. I would never recommend any nation rouge native to go here, this restaurant is owned by wicked people. I am grateful the Lord delivered me and showed me clearly who and what they were. I pray for their repentance. They are also very rude to their staff and make ugly comments to one another and trash talk each other....
Read moreMyself and my coworkers ate here today for lunch and really enjoyed everything. The hospitality from all the employees we passed up from the entrance to our tables as well as the wait staff immediately stood out. They also had daily lunch specials we could chose from which is an entree and 2 sides of your choice with a choice of a piece of garlic bread or cornbread.
I was torn between the smothered chicken or red beans special. My coworker & I were both torn on the same dishes so we each ordered one so we could both try the other one we were torn between. The red beans were so flavorful and cooked to perfection with sliced and linked sausage. The smothered chicken easily fell off the bone and was placed atop the most delicious cornbread stuffing. The garlic bread was delicious as well!
A few of my coworkers ordered hamburgers which they all complimented the homemade aspect of them. Another hit was the Monte Cristo sandwich which will be what I get next time. Even the chicken tenders someone ordered were made in house. We all enjoyed our food and cannot wait to go back! If you want a taste of southern comfort and hospitality, this is THE...
