Went there with some out of town guest and was totally embarrassed by the entire experience. First, we went inside to take a rest from walking, and get something cold to drink. When ordering, I had to repeat the clearly articulated oder three times, because the "girl" taking our order wasn't paying attention. Then, when see placed our poorly made (didn't taste good at all) order on the counter, because there was only on straw in the straw container, and we ordered three drinks, I asked her if she would please get me two more straws. Her response was to point in the direction of another part of the establishment... without saying a word. So I asked again, only to have her point again... so I went searching for a straw, which I eventually found in the middle of the store.
After drinking our beverages, we all needed to use the restroom facilities. That's when we discovered we were required to ask for a key from the very person that refused to speak to me when I politely asked for the straws. Being in our 60's, we hadn't experienced locked restrooms since visiting cheap gas stations back in the 1970's. So that in itself was rather bizarre to say the least. Then, we discovered the restroom was dirty, and had obviously not been cleaned for some time. There were dried urine looking substances all along the toilet seat, as well as layers of dust throughout (especially on top of the paper towel holder), and a nasty, dirty, plunger left under the sink.
Like I mentioned before, I was embarrassed for subjecting my good friends from out of town to this horrible experience. The only redeeming part of our visit, was that we were able to wash the horrible taste of that experience out of our mouths by visiting most of the other stores in the area. The other establishments had some of the nicest people anyonewouldbe happy to have met, and spent lots of money at their establishments.
One more thing that was uncomfortable was the fact that this establishment, that locks the filthy restroom door, was allowing a non-service large dog, that were blocking the walkway inside the store, to roam around the store and randomly sniff customers... how bizarre is that... the dog was more welcomed than paying customers.
We will never go back to any PJ'S every again after experiencing such horrific service, and certainly would warn any unsuspecting potential customers to stay away.
But please, do yourself a tremendous favor, and visit all the other fine, friendly, welcoming establishments in the lovely tiwn of Bay St. Louis...
Read moreStopped in from out of town because PJs is normally a trusted coffee stop. But were we wrong @ this location. There was one lady placing an order and one in the front area seated when we entered. It started from the poor attentiveness at the cash register with an attendant who was attempting to very ineffectively take our order request. She took FOREVER to actually place our order for three items
My family and I ordered iced lattes, scones and a chocolate chip muffin. Here’s why this place gets 2 stars:
Service - the “barista” was completely disengaged with us as we placed our order. She leaned against the counter and had a groggy demeanor, as if she just hopped out of bed. Not sure if it was an issue of personality or just lack of training in dealing with customers.
Iced Lattes - The drinks were so, so watered-down. My wife usually prefers weaker lattes than I, but even she complained that the drinks were terrible. As much as I hate Starbucks coffee, I would go with their coffee in a head-to-head with PJ’s Bay St Louis location.
Chocolate chip muffin - This is where it gets really bad. All I will say is that I wouldn’t be surprised if PJs uses Duncan Hines cake mix to “bake” their muffins.
Scones - The texture was waxy on the inside. Not the flaky, dry consistency that one expects from a good scone.
Ambiance - Hey, there is one positive thing to note about my experience! They do have a pleasant setting with nice outdoor seating and a fresh interior. Too bad I can’t bring my own coffee and pasties to enjoy in PJ’s...
