My family was looking for frozen yogurt, but this was close by and we were feeling adventurous. Their ice cream is all handmade. They have some pretty standard flavors (chocolate, vanilla, etc.) for those who are less adventurous.
I decided to make the most of my visit and try some flavors I haven't seen elsewhere. I had a scoop of the corn ice cream, which had a sweet almost buttery flavor that was very good, but if you have an aversion to really sweet things you might want to avoid this one.
I also had a scoop of the cotija cheese ice cream. This was sooo good. It was very smooth and creamy. You wouldn't expect it to be so smooth with the cheese in there, but it was. You would get the full smoothness on your tongue, and once the ice cream had melted, it would leave behind the tiniest little pearls of cotija.
There were a lot of other treats that looked amazing and if I make it down to this shop again, I will definitely try some...
Read moreI had a chance to go on a sunny day and try these frozen treats. I ended up ordering the cookies and cream and the mango flavor. And truly they were both pretty good. Definitely felt fresh and not processed. I’d say it was actually pretty creamy and rich. I want to say the scoops were generous with the size, but I feel like most places are that size of a scoop. This place is good, the flavors are tasty and it seems to be pretty clean. It’s just the pricing for me isn’t worth it. What you get for three scoop is what I could get at Baskin Robbins for a banana split with a whole bunch of toppings and three different flavored ice cream. I could also get one scoop of ice cream for The price that I would get a banana Royale which includes a full banana three toppings of your choosing and two ice cream scoops. My point is this place isn’t bad but pricing is just too high...
Read moreWhere to begin? I have driven by this place numerous times, but never stopped in till today. I am mad at myself for making such a bad mistake.
Ome Calli has a great selection of flavors for both ice creams (milk based) and sorbets (water based). It also has an amazing selection of house made paletas (think Mexican style popsicle). According to the menu, they also make milkshakes and have other frozen treats, but I haven't tried those yet.
I tried to horchata ice cream and the chipotle chocolate ice cream. They were both great. The horchata flavor was very smooth and tasted exactly like what you would expect frozen horchata would taste like. The chipotle chocolate has a great dark chocolate flavor with hints of cinnamon and some chili that gave it a nice heat.
I plan on going back many times to try put more of the menu and I suggest you...
