First time visitor: Had their 2 classic (per various reviews) noodle dishes - one with the brown sauce, the other, spicy seafood soup. Both were pretty good with good portions of supporting ingredients.
Below are a few constructive ideas to make this place a better food experience. (1) The "broth" of the spicy seafood noodle could have been deeper and richer, perhaps using vege or protein based broth. (2) Use peeled shrimp to eliminate the hassle of removing them. (3) Use abalone and not a half of a crab, from similar line of removing cumbersome eating situation. For me Abalone adds deeper taste from past experiences. (4) Serve higher quality yellow radish and table vinegar. As they were, radish seemed dry and wrinkly while the vinegar, too strong and sharp.
What made the rating lower than what the main dishes deserve is the ambiance of the place. It was just too noisy, especially when chef was cooking. The ventilation system made noises that competed with and drowned out the soft music. It decreased a bit later, but was still quite loud for us. The root cause may be (1) the kitchen ventillation system was reduced but still noisy and/or (2) the HVAC system is making analogous noises. In either case, both (or whatever the souce) should be repaird.
The price is quite hefty compared to those in California of comparable quality and portion. More attention to make this a better experience would...
Read moreHonestly, I’ve tried almost all of the Jjangmyeon here in Beaverton/pdx area and this place has probably the best Jjangmyeon I’ve ever tasted. I love that the price is reasonable along with big portions! We always get the jjangmyeon with steak and it’s not tiny steak pieces actual steak bites and it’s very filling. They hand-make their noodles so it tastes very fresh. Also, because it is done in a wok you can definitely taste the char flavor in their dishes which adds so much more flavor!!
The only thing I would say is that the service can improve on being more attentive to everyone even to those who are ordering takeout. We once came in around 4pm (they had just opened) to order takeout and there was only one table at the time but the server seemed more attentive to his one table than to us. We had been waiting at the door for about 15 minutes with little acknowledgment from the server until we finally were able to place a takeout order. Otherwise, we still...
Read moreI recently visited Wok' n Guys after hearing a recommendation from Will Morse Eats, and I can confidently say the experience exceeded my expectations! I had their Jjajangmyeon for the first time, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The noodles are handmade, and you can immediately tell from the texture—soft yet chewy, perfectly capturing the essence of authentic craftsmanship. They’re the ideal base for the thick, savory umami sauce that’s loaded with rich pork flavor.
The sauce itself is a masterpiece—deep, robust, and incredibly satisfying. It clings to the noodles in the most perfect way, delivering a hit of rich, hearty flavor in every bite. You can really taste the care that goes into preparing this dish, from the fresh noodles to the well-balanced sauce.
If you're looking to explore something different, delicious, and comforting, the Jjajangmyeon at Wok' n Guys is a must-try. I can guarantee this handmade version will leave you impressed and...
