We visited Sonny's BBQ for lunch on a weekday in September 2023. It was our first visit to a Sonny's BBQ. I'll start with the bad for us (just to note, it's not about being lazy, but I will not get into that) There wasn't any parking close to restaurant itself. The preferred, uphill and near the restaurant parking consisted of a handicap or two spaces, a bunch of un-used spaces for take out only and the other couple of normal spaces that were taken. So we found a spot in the rear parking that was down the hill in the back. I thought about leaving when I was parking, seeing that sit down customers have to walk up a hill, yet other folks are provided preferred customer status right out front, when parking. Yes I see this at other restaurants as well. Yet none of the forbidden spots were used. This Sonny's had a drive through window as well. Yet there's plenty of un-used parking near the door for those folks. We had to walk from the far end of the parking lot, up the hill past all the empty spots, just to get to the door. It may not be an issue for some folks. But for some other folks, it can be. Okay, rant over. Once inside, things were better. There is a small bar in the front for folks who prefer to eat or just have a beverage there. We were seated quickly at a open table near the back (road side) of the restaurant. The restaurant was fairly busy being lunch time. Our servers name that was printed on the bill, said Ashley. She was very nice and attentive, considering the amount of tables she had. She did a great job from start to finish. The wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich, with coleslaw. I went with a brisket sandwich and baked beans. We went with the "Big Deal", which includes the side and a drink, like most fast food places. I think it was $4 more for my beans and a soft drink, over just the sandwich alone. Our food came out pretty quick and was quite good. The brisket was as it should be, and barely needed chewing, it was so tender. The baked beans were quite good, as well. The wife said the same about her meal. So Sonny's did good there. We paid approximately $29 plus a decent tip, for our weekday, lunch. I do not know if the prices are the same all the time or not. I'm just saying what we paid for what and when. I can see us visiting a Sonny's again in the future. But more than likely one with better parking. My ankle would definitely...
Read more‘Not so good’ I am not sure what has happened to this Sonny’s! I have lived in this area for about 20years and this location has really declined. We have visited numerous times, both take out and delivery. This last time dining In, Saturday night was the last straw. First off, the place was empty at 7pm, not good I thought, actually thought they may be closed. Second, we got the same waitress we have had the previous two times, not good. She is not very attentive, every time we have gone. We usually arrive at around the same time, 7-8pm. And it seems she is trying to close up shop no matter what time it is! We ordered drinks and literally 5 minutes later our drinks come on a tray with multiple salt/pepper shakers and bottles of sauce. Yes, I have been a waitress many moons ago so I know what she is doing, filling her tables! Come on, there is 2 tables in the entire place including us and it takes you 5 minutes for drinks! Our food comes out, wrong, ordered bbq ribs and out comes dry rub ribs. FF are cold and hard. Turkey for big deal is dry dry dry. She never came back to ask how everything was so we just accepted it. Last visit same thing! Needed a drink refill and you can’t find her. Hubby had to go to bar area and ask another waitress for refills so she goes in the back and comes out empty handed, I assume she told our waitress, so another few minutes later our waitress appears! Don’t know why the other lady couldn’t help her and get the drinks! So then again our waitress starts cleaning the floors around us, we were in a booth next To tables and she starts dragging chairs and sweeping! Isn’t cleaning time built into their hours? Why must this be done at 8 o’clock with patrons still there? We used to like the bbq food here but something has changed, maybe management is not present later in the day? Will really have to think hard about returning to...
Read moreMy experience with this restaurant was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a Sonny's BBQ. We waited over an hour for food 2 days before Christmas when they were empty. When we finally got an appetizer of tater tots I had to go ask for plates. By the time we got to the appetizer it was cold. After an hour wait our food came out and it was obvious most of ours have been sitting in the window. One person on the table got a hamburger and it seems they put the rest of ours together and threw it up in the window early just leaving it to sit until they got around to making the Hamburger. I separated the pork I had between hardened burnt skin, fat and edible meat. Unfortunately the pile of edible meat was the smallest. This was my sister's birthday party and her food was cold just like the rest of ours. They did take my food away saying they couldn't understand how I got such a bad serving because it's not supposed to have that much fat and skin. After nearly two hours of being in the restaurant we all left just as hungry as we started and the two of us who ate the salad bar proceeded to get sick. I didn't even make it out of the restaurant. This was the most disgusting food and horrifically display of management of a restaurant I've ever seen. My entire family is now turned off of Sonny's BBQ which is very sad because we're originally from Kentucky and love BBQ. We should have known when you walk into a restaurant at dinner time two days before Christmas and it's empty, there's a problem. The only reason I gave one star is to leave this review you have to...
