Came here late one Saturday night. The restaurant decor and layout was actually very nice taking over the old Koral space. However, that's where the nicety ends. First, the service was terrible. The hostess was dismissive at best. We were told that they would have a table for us in ~15mins. 15 minutes passes by and nothing... Finally after 25 minutes of waiting, a waiter asks us if he can find us a seat. "Awesome", or so we thought. He sat us down and we waited another 10 minutes but no one brought us menus or even greeted us, finally we asked on of the staffs and it turns out that the waiter had LITERALLY meant to only find us a seat so we didn't have to stand and wait; they had already closed down that side of the restaurant so we would have to continue to wait for an actual "serving" table. We told the hostess to cancel our table and of course, two seats opened up at their bar seating. We figured the time we wasted was a sunk cost and decided to stay. However the service didn't get any better. Even though we were seated at the bar in front of their open kitchen where all of the waiters had to literally walk by us to pick up orders, it still took us another 20 minutes to get menus and water.
As you can imagine, after all the wait, we didn't have high expectations but was just hungry and wanted to get some food. I had some marinara meatball sliders and some fried cheese curds. The meatballs had zero flavor and the marinara sauce, I'm pretty sure, was watered down Prego. I honestly would've been more satisfied with a can of Chef Boyardee. As for the cheese curds, I should mention that I'm a sucker for fried cheese curds, but they were so disappointing that I couldn't have more than a few bites. The batter they used had cornmeal so it was gritty. They were also tossed in some sort of sugar/syrup so not only were they not crunchy (think more of microwaved frozen chicken nuggets) but they had this oddly sweet taste to it that didn't complement the cheese at all (although I'll admit that's subjective and some might like that, I personally didn't). As for the cheese curds themselves, they were dry and not cooked long enough where it should come out slightly stringy (think mozzarella sticks) but more like cheese flavored bouncy balls.
I'm not sure if it's just new restaurant open jitters but considering it's been more than 2 months I would have expected them to have ironed out...
Read moreTerrible!!! Horrible service and food! I went here last night (Feb 5th) with my best friend to celebrate my 43rd birthday after cancelling my reservation at Ascend! When my friend and I (black women) arrived we waited to be seated after a group of girls arrived behind us! Once we were seated we didn't get water but noticed the group of girls that came in behind us were seated next to us and in the 20 mins of us waiting, they had already got water and veggie trays while we were still waiting for service; ignored and passed over several times! I had to get up to ask if we had a server...and the lady that was talking to the group of girls and passed us without saying anything said she was coming! She then had an excuse that she was busy and the only one in front but she forget we were watching her the whole time and she didn't seem too busy to have a whole pleasant conversation with the group of girls seated next to us in the aisle booth while we were not acknowledged or asked if we wanted anything! She purposely went out of her way to ignore us! It's bad when the one of the girls from the group noticed we didn't get served! When we finally got served the food (Steak David and Chicken Piccata) was not great at all we had to take both plates back! We would have been okay about the food but the overall service we received just made this whole experience embarrassing and terrible! We ended up going to Joey's afterwards and in short period of time we were properly greeted, seated and served; even the appetizers were amazing! I've lived in Bellevue for a long time but I see they have really changed for the worst of how...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place after I found out they serve breakfast all day. Heard it was a 24/7 place but I think it changed. The good thing is, it is open late so if you’re hungry at 9:15pm and want something to eat-this is a viable option. Parking: underground. There is an elevator that leads to the front of the restaurant (which I missed) Ambiance: love the dimly lit dining room, the high back chairs at the bar and high back seats at each table; reminds me of an old steakhouse. Service: great customer care in providing recommendations on drinks and desserts. Food: wide and I ordered a lobster mac n cheese; I opted for the chicken & waffles and a cup of chowder, because I like comparing clam chowder to other locations (best clam chowder I’ve had was on Vashon Island at The Hardware Store). Wife thought the Lobster Mac was a bit too buttery, like they drowned the lobster in butter than mixed it with the Mac n cheese. Took it home and gave it to our son. The chowder was good and I did enjoy it; not too creamy or watery. The chicken and waffles were delicious-love the portioned out waffles vs one large waffle. Chicken was like a tenderloin size vis thigh or breast. Dessert: ordered a fried ice cream bananas foster-very sweet but went a bit overboard with the sauce. I would recommend having the sauce on the side. What I didn’t like: the “service charge” the restaurant charges that DOES NOT go to the server but to the restaurant. Why would this be needed? BL: if you don’t mind the service charge, this place is worth going and...
