They're new to this location, so they're still working out the kinks, but a few points to make:
The staff seem pretty unhappy and don't give off the impression that they care much for their job. The guy taking orders was frazzled and seemed kind of ticked off. His workstation was a mess and he kept the bread for sandwiches in boxes in a greasy corner of the kitchen. Not too appetizing. The Asian guy at the checkout was equally surly and just wanted to get your interaction over with.
2.This time I happened to ask for waffle fries as a side which they had to cook to order ad bring to me when they were done. The guy from the checkout counter brought them out and dropped the bag right on top of my hands which were picking up my sandwich with barely a look at what he was doing. They spilled everywhere on my tray and down into my lap. By the time I looked up with a "WTF?" look, he was back at the counter checking his phone.
It's a chain, so I get this on the bigger picture, but just goes to show the quality and attention to detail. They were replacing the mac and cheese side, which they did by emptying a huge bag of pre-made mac and cheese into the steam tray right in front of me. It was disappointing to see they don't even attempt to make it seem fresh. The person doing the sides also kept a messy station.
The man who appeared to be the owner or manager was scurrying around trying to keep things clean and make an effort to make customers feel welcome, etc. He was the one person who seemed fully invested. He looks like he needs some help from the rest of the crew both in work level and attitude, since he looks like he's a one man show.
They have an actual smoker, which is always great and it shows in the meat. Everything else needs some work, in my opinion. Hopefully...
Read moreMeh instead of mmmm. I tried to call to place my order. I was in the car and ordering online wasn't possible. The phone was answered by a man with a thick accent who spoke very quickly. It took me several tries to figure out that he was telling me that I couldn't place an order on the phone. Although for the life of me I can't understand why. When I arrived and went inside I had to wait about five minutes to place my order, even though there was only one other customer and three employees. The young woman working was very friendly and competent. There were two male employees and neither really seemed to be able to do anything. Overall I was in the establishment over 20 minutes. Considering nothing is cooked to order that was way too long. Now the food...not even close to worth what I paid. Pork ribs were obviously not cooked the day I ordered them. I've never had pork ribs where the meat was actually crunchy. It was pretty dry and chewy, more like jerky. Sides were okay but not good enough to want to come back. The roll had been sitting out in the open for quite some time. It was more like a crouton than a roll. Even the soda sucked. Root beer tasted off and makes me wonder how long it's been since the system was cleaned. The only redeeming part of this experience was the very pleasant, competent young woman working. But I will probably never see her again as I won't...
Read moreTLDR: The business seems to be run a little weird & they need to get their equipment up and running but what they did have was good. Meat portions were larger than expected, particularly at the price point. If this was the only BBQ joint I'd happily come back, but it isn't and so I'll be trying other local options next time I get a hankering.
Smoker was out of order, so there wasn't any brisket, chicken, or ribs. Additionally the free soft serv machine was also out of order. They were also out of green beans for unknown reasons. :( About 30 minutes after we got there they closed shop because they were out of meat, I'd estimate that to be 3PM. That was weird, but also made sense seeing how they had half of their normal offerings.
Got the BBQ pulled pork, onion strings, and baked beans. All of which were very good. I appreciated that there were 3 BBQ sauce options and that they were all on the side so you could add to your preferences. Also digged that they had fresh onions, canned jalapenos, and pickles in the bar with the sauces. Napkins are paper towels, which suits the theme. They hang from the posts in the dining area. It would have been nice if staff let us know that when we ordered rather than us wandering around with sticky fingers looking for napkins,...
