The food here is “mind blown emoji” more often than not!! 🤯🤯🤯
I’d like to begin by stating I’ve worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry for the last twelve years. I have two relative university degrees in the field and I’ve worked in a variety of restaurants in Bend alone (even Barrio-Ms. Connie!)
From fine dining to quick service, I’ve seen the front and back. Not only is Blissful Spoon a delightfully refreshing take on global cuisine, but I also had the good fortune of working for this restaurant for the last four months. The owners have been considerate, understanding, and hard working all the while maintaining a family, hobby farm, and OPERATING A NEW BUSINESS DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC.
My previous coworkers and I have had many moments of feeling overwhelmed as many consumers and guests expect service to be that of pre-pandemic days. I can’t force an espresso machine to brew faster…sorry. I also cannot magically have the specific sweetener you like on hand. No matter how much we communicate to patrons, there will always be people with an “issue” or act as a “Karen” would. I cannot fathom the amount of patience and poise one must carry themselves with all the while running a business of this nature and working 24/7.
As a previous employee, I am now a forever patron knowing how clean, fresh, and made-with-love everything is. Most American restaurants have neglected consumers with dietary restrictions for long enough. Blissful Spoon is a delightful gluten free bakery with the bonus of also being a full service restaurant. With so much of Bend operating as counter service I’m not sure why people would expect a full service restaurant with a mainly cook-to-order, clean ingredient menu and National worker shortage, to be delivering food within ten minutes of ordering. If you expect food in that manner go to a fast food restaurant-not a casual fine dining restaurant-and re-evaluate the privileges you live with...

I have had blissful spoons baked goods before and loved them. I saw online a promotion for "Themed Dinners". We were excited to sign up for the "French Night" - Pricing 80$. It was my error in thinking the wine was including as a pairing like other places we have been. IF the wine was included it would have been worth the price Although we loved our food items, we did not find the price to be reasonable for the portions.
Our "main entree" was a really small portion and we ended up eating when we got home. It was a bummer. I am hoping they can include the wine next time, add a bigger main dish, and/or include a salad or soup. Most places give bread or chips/salsa as a courtesy. If we take that out of the equation... we really just paid for an appetizer, kid's sized entree, and variety of desserts. I wasn't thinking also I was going to have to tip until they mentioned it in the end. I thought wow this is so pricey for how little the food portions are! We had a waitress just pour water and hand us a plate. In total, we paid 160 + wine 12ish? + additional tip. I feel like we got robbed for the price in the end.
Overall, the owner and assuming his wife were extremely pleasant, kind, and humble. It was an experience we wanted to share on a night out of town. However, we won't be back unless there are some adjustments made. I think 40-50$ is reasonable for the dinner portions unless drinks...
Read moreWas so excited to visit this place while visiting bend as the food looked so delicious and had GF options for people in our party. We ordered our food around 10 am and got simple dishes of scrambled eggs, bacon, side of fruit and potatoes. We waited over an hour to receive two of the four dishes we order (the two were substitute orders for a dish they could not make due to unripe avocados). While waiting one of our party guests went and order a latte and had stated three times for almond milk instead of the macadamia milk due to allergy, the coffee came out with macadamia milk we let them know we had stated three different times that it needs to be almond milk they took the coffe back and arrived 30 min later with the new coffee with correct milk (30 min for staff to stop mingling to make a simple coffee). A table with the same size party that got sat after us and had more extreme dishes got all their food before we got the rest of our dishes. After 20 mins and asking for the rest of our dishes several times after the first two of four dishes came out we got the other “two dishes” (two orders came out one plate). And to the owner I do not wish a reply from you as you aren’t here and have no idea how slow your chef is. If you have issues with the slowness of your kitchen you may want to look into getting more kitchen staff rather than front...
