Traditional English cask ale in a city full of everything but? Yes, please. The pub ale, best bitter, ESB, and porter - all favorites of mine at any English brewery - were on point. I could use a little less roasted malt on the porter, but that's a personal preference. I still like it. The cellar even feels appropriate for the beer that's being served. Update: we popped in on our regular visit to Bend, and the place has clearly expanded their sale of food. While I'm sure it's great for the pub's bottom line and the people eating it, the food is cooked inside the confined space and the entire place has a strong, pungent smell of "meat pie" that permeates the air and remains with you in your clothes when you leave. For me, it takes away from the experience and they would do well to move the food cooking to the back.

Lovely out of the way place (vertically if not horizontally. Plenty of locals haven't been to it, but it's a gem. Walk to the basement for wood, brick and quiet. Kast's Tip: Call and see if The Snug is available (it most likely is). Either way, grab a couple friends, congregate in The Snug and order several home-made savory pies. Chat, play a game, whatever. The country breakfast pie is my favorite, (as it reminds me of England), but all are great.

It’s a cozy place with an English-style interior, offering porter beer, red ale, and Guinness. The food consists of pre-made pies that are reheated in the oven, so you can order a few simple options like pies and pretzels. The bartender, Nicole, provided excellent service, which further enhanced the atmosphere and made for an enjoyable experience. I think this is a place worth recommending, and I plan to visit again in the future.

If someone with a disability comes into your bar.And they have a service dog.It would be nice if the bartender didn't demand that you loudly announce your disability to everyone in the room.If the bartender had any sensitivity they wouldn't be such an asshole. It would Be nice for disabled person to come in with their dog and have the bartender Pull them aside and say Hey, man By the way, quietly, we don't normally allow dogs in the building. If that is a service dog, can you please quietly and discreetly?Tell me why you have the dog.... this jerk demand that the person who has a disability announce their disability to everyone else...

We just stumbled upon The Cellar as we were walking around downtown and really fell in love with this cozy little place. It has such warm and welcoming feel to it, like a speakeasy basement bar with an English pub charm. If you're like me and tired of all the brewpubs with five different IPAs but nothing dark, smooth and malty, then you'll love their selection of beers. Top quality porters, stouts and red ales. The meat pies were delicious as well. They do take a while, so don't expect a quick bite, instead, settle in with good beer, good company and enjoy the charm as you wait...
