I wanted to love Wild Rose. We had a reservation and I was excited about the menu. While we know Thai food well, we had a few questions because we wanted to make sure we were ordering the appropriate dish for our 5 year old, and also make sure we were ordering appropriately sharing between 2 adults. Our seafood dish was wonderful, but things went downhill when we made a simple inquiry about the internal temperature of our chicken dish. It was pink, cool and fleshy. I kindly explained to the waiter that I prefer my chicken more done and I was brushed off about the inconvenience to the kitchen. When the next server came by, I was asked if everything was ok, to which I pointed out that I had questions about the chicken being appropriately cooked. I received an abrupt “yeah, that’s normal” with a blanket answer of how it is prepared/cooked. From that point forward, I could tell we were an annoyance to staff. They stopped checking in, and we could see their attitude toward our table. The only time they passed by was to offer a condescending remark to my 5 year old that “sticky rice is meant to be eaten with hands” (she has some sensory items that she preferred to eat with a fork so we were finding ways to help her). Meanwhile, they watched the chicken sit there, not eaten and they did not care to offer solutions. What they also didn’t know was that I previously had a food borne illness, so I am cautious to eat anything that appears far undercooked. We received our full bill $81 without a shred of care from the establishment/staff. This is the 1st time I tipped below 20-25% but in this situation it was very warranted and even 10-15% seemed generous for this situation.

The service here was so quick! I asked the server for a recommendation, didn’t even check out the menu. They suggested the Khao Soi Curry and it was perfect for the rainy day. Hit exactly the spot I needed it to without even knowing. The hot tea was great too and already prepared so I didn’t need to spend forever waiting on my herbal tea to brew. I was dining alone for lunch and was definitely the minority in that. Most groups had 3 or more people and with the emphasis on small plates to share it’s perfect for a group. My dish was great for solo dining though so don’t be discouraged by the group vibe. There is full service bar seating if you don’t want to take up much space. This isn’t your traditional “Americanized” Thai restaurant but the dishes are diverse enough to please any palate. I ordered my food at medium spice because I wasn’t sure how their heat scale compared to other places I’ve been. I really enjoy spice and it didn’t seem hot to me but still had full flavor. If you aren’t sure about what to get or how much spice, just ask, the staff was very helpful and polite. However, do your due diligence and pay attention to signage that tells you it’s northern Thai cuisine which explicitly states no pad Thai on the menu. I heard people ask this even though it’s on the sign right as you walk in the building. If you’re not sure it’s for you, just give it a go because I’m certain you won’t be disappointed!

When will the 0 stars review score be available??? If yelp has 0 star, I would like to give to this restaurant. I have visited this Thai restaurant for more than 20 times in recent few years. I always order the same food -curry noodle with Tofu every time. It’s tasted ok and acceptable; however, the food and service are awful and disappointing. I ordered curry noodle with tofu, but after 3-5 mins, the waiter sent me curry noodle with pork. I said i ordered tofu not chicken ( I thought it’s chicken). The waiter said it’s pork, and the he took my plate back to the kitchen without any apology. I looked at him and said “ oh, ok”. All right, it’s fine for me for now. After I received the second plate, I started to enjoy it, but it’s too salty. I thought maybe something wrong with my taste, so I let my husband try it out. He said oh, it’s salty today. I cannot eat it so I stopped eating. The waiter came back again and asked anything wrong with the dish, I said it’s too salty. He took my plate again back to the kitchen, and actually I could hear that the chef was so angry because he/she made noises in the kitchen. That waiter came out from kitchen and asked for help from the owner from the small room. Maybe she is the owner or manager . I’m not really sure. The waiter said “ oh, it’s her third plate. She said it’s too salty.” I’m like what?! Are you kidding? You sent me the wrong dish without apology and blamed everything on a customer. Really?! After few mins, the waiter came to my table and looked me with disdain, and said “ you should ask for less sauce when you order this dish”. I told him I order many times and every time food is good. How could I know if the dish is salty or plain when I order. The waiter kept saying the words without “please” or any pleasant words. He’s rude and impolite. Then my dish’s on my table without a FOLK. Really? Tell me how to eat noodles with a huge spoon. I tasted with my finger. By the way, I asked for 4th level spicy, but I cannot taste any spicy on my last plate. Then, I saw that lady walking by, and tried to explain what happened here. I won’t forget what she told me this afternoon. She didn’t listen to me and said “ if you do not like the food, just go to other places. DO NOT COME HERE AGAIN. I DO NOT CARE. WE HAVE MANY CUSTOMERS. JUST DO NOT COME”She repeated it many times to me. I was shocked. I’ve never ever ever had really really really awful and disgusting service ever before. A lady sitting closed to my table was shocked too, and she asked me what happened. I was so speechless.

Maybe people still go there to eat, and my review is insignificant. If you like your food, that’s great! Congratulations. If you have any small complains, you may experience the same thing as me.

Good Luck to every one to eat...

Exceptional Food with horrible service!

First off, the food is exceptional! The best Thai eats I have ever had. Unfortunately, the dining experience was one of the worst I have every had. Let me explain. We made reservations for 8:30 for a party of 8 people on the weekend. Immediately upon arriving we were told that the kitchen would be closing at 8:45. The annoyance of our arrival from the the host to the server was palpable.

Such a juxtaposition from the experience they describe on their website and menu. For a place that says, "A Northern Thai meal is a communal event – the more you share, the tastier your dishes are," sharing and having a relaxing meal was the last vibe we received from the staff. Everything was rushed and we felt more like an annoyance than welcomed guests. After getting our first drinks, we were immediately told that the bar was closing and this was our last chance to order anything else. Shortly after our meal was served, someone came by and took away the condiments. That set the tone for the rest of the meal. Again, the food is exceptional, but the entire vibe from the staff was annoyance and trying to get us out of there as quickly as possible. Immediatly after we stood up to leave the table, staff came swooping in to clear everything and slamming our chairs in the process while we were still putting our coats on. I am not exaggerating.

So here's the rub, why would you take a reservation for large party at 8:30 if you are hellbent on getting out of there right at closing. I would completely understand if we had come in without a reservation. Had that been the case, we would have been very conscious and considerate of showing up late with a large group.

To the owners, Paul, Ampawan, Rosie, and Tyler: Your incredible food was vastly overshawdowed by the unsettling and unwelcoming experience of your staff. I believe I did see Rosie there from what I can tell from the pictures on your website. As unforgettable as your food is, you have lost us as customers. We spent a lot of money for a crappy experience!

After reading several similar and worse experiences, it's obvious the owners could care less. Dine at...

TL;DR Wild Rose discriminates against LGBTQIA customers.

No matter how badly I want to bring visitors and family to Wild Rose and its amazing food in the future, I will think of owner Tyler Westlund’s smug, eye-rolling face closing the front door in our faces. And I will never return.

INCIDENT ONE: my partner and I show up for dinner and put our name on the waitlist. We are told to come back at 8, but can check back sooner to see if anything opened up. We check back an hour later at 7:40 and the guy says our table is still finishing up. We’re standing there right in front of him waiting, when another couple walks up and asks if there is a table for two. He looks through the window and gets them a table, right in front of us! When we ask him about this, he doesn’t apologize or say he made a mistake. Instead he says they were a walk-in so they’re different. Um… we were a walk-in nearly two hours before! Unbelievable.

INCIDENT TWO: the exact same thing happens on a much quicker timeline. My partner and I walk up for dinner and put our name on the waitlist, and are again told it will be around 8PM. Less than a minute later while we are still standing there, figuring out where to go kill time, another couple walks up and asks if they have a table for two, and the guy immediately sits them at the bar! Unbelievable.

Tyler Westlund witnessed me asking the front door man about what the heck was going on, as this was the second time we had been told to wait 90+ minutes only for another walk-in to get seated before our eyes. He listened for about five seconds, rolled his eyes, and shut the door in our faces.

The only thing I can think of that would explain this illogical behavior is that my partner and I are two men, and Wild Rose doesn’t want to cater to the LGBTQ community. It sounds crazy but there is no other explanation for this...
