My wife and I recently had a new baby and wanted to get out of the house, even if it was just to go pick up pizza and come back home. Knowing that Nick’s is always busy, and we loved the food from the old location, we put in our to go order of 1 pizza and garlic knots in at 345 pm. It said it would be 45-50 mins when placing the order, and it being a Friday we were fine with that. We show up at the restaurant at 440 pm. I walked up and the front area was chaotic. I finally got a chance to tell them I was there to pick up my order and they sent someone back to check on the status. I waited in the lobby for 10 mins with no response. I walked back up to the front desk and asked if anyone had an update of the status of my pizza? I was confused on how long one pizza could take to make. They told me it’d be “like another 5 minutes”. I waited patiently. I gave them another 15 minutes and still nothing. Now it’s 5:15 and still don’t have my pizza in hand. I’ve been at the restaurant for 35 minutes and nothing. I politely asked for another update, and was told another 5-10 minutes. At this point I’m angry, confused, and amazed by how many people they are turning away with their wait times and stopping take out orders. 5:25 comes around and still nothing so I ask one more time, as I’ve been there for 45 minutes, was told when ordered it would be 50 minutes total. They told me they’d look again. 5 minutes later, they call my name and have my order finally ready. I grab it, get in my car, apologize to my wife, and we head home. As I’m pulling onto my street, ~ 7 minutes after I left, I got a call from a random number and I answered. Turns out it was Nick’s front staff asking me if I was handed the wrong pizza. I checked the box and it had the wrong name on it. Looked like the same thing I ordered but not sure. Either way I wasn’t going to turn around and bring it back at this point. There’s no reason take out should take 50 minutes then wait another 50 minutes to get 1 pizza, let alone one that was not what I ordered. That’s outrageous. While the pizza was good, it was not of the same quality as we previously had and it wasn’t worth that wait or bad experience. If they get the takeout in line, I may go back, but I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone at this time. I was having the same experience as many walking in waiting for their order. Many people were frustrated. Very poor experience that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Food ⭐️ We received a square pizza w/ only 4 slices that looked like a personal size pizza not a rectangular Detroit Style pizza. When my pizzas (in the small boxes) were handed to me I knew we were in trouble! Including tip we paid $35 & basically received 8 slices which were essentially 2 personal pizzas. It smelled wonderful in the car & the flavor was delicious however our crust was black & hard as a rock. We felt like we were going to break a tooth it was so hard & burnt. This part of our pizza we had to discard but the part that wasn’t burnt was delicious & chewy! I really wish the entire pizza was like this because it was amazing! There seems to be some inconsistency w/ pizza size! The post I saw on NextDoor (which prompted me to place an order for my family) was the pizza I wound up ordering (first picture below which has 6 slices) It was the Detroit Style Pizza “Red” which included…red sauce, cheese, fresh basil & EVOO & we added pepperoni & Mike’s Hot Honey. We also ordered the same style pizza “White” which included ricotta, cheeses, garlic, basil, sea salt, black pepper & EVOO & we added burrata & arugula. (The other 2 pictures below are the pizzas we received.) Service ⭐️⭐️- The main reasons why I am giving the service two stars was because when I asked the person on the phone how many slices are in each pie she told me 6 slices. This information is EXTREMELY important to a customer who has never ordered from you…this information should be correct! I was ordering for 4 people so I ordered 2 pies thinking it would give us 3 slices each! Needless to say we did not have enough food for my family so we had to order another pizza from our local pizza place for delivery. (I want to say that the girls @ the counter were very pleasant so I gave them each a star.) I also placed my order @ 5:15 pm for a 6 pm pick up. I arrived @ 6 pm & wound up waiting an addition 30 min for our pizzas. I understand new places need to work out their kinks but I feel like the value was not there. My husband & I have been in the restaurant & hospitality business for 20+ years & are also foodies & this was a disappointment.

I was wanting to try some other pizza places in my area and figured I'd give Nick's a try. They are in a small strip mall almost right at the intersection of Marsh and Silverside Rd and have a nice amount of parking. On the inside, Nick's definitely feels like a neighborhood watering hole and restaurant. Nice warm vibes, a wrap-around bar, plenty of seating and even some arcade machines in the back while you wait for your meal. I definitely had some great service, too. The servers were attentive and ensured I was taken care of and gladly answered my questions. They also made sure I had a nice chilled glass for my beer as well. As for the menu, this is very much what you'd expect from a local Italian and pizza restaurant. Pizzas, cheesesteaks, hoagies, some pasta dishes; almost like a greatest hits of the Philly area for many of these restaurants. As for their pizza, they have a thin crust and a "Detroit" style pizza (though I would argue it would be Sicilian-style as they also serve tomato pies and those are often the base for most thick-crust pizzas in the area). One big note here is that they will typically bake pizzas to "well done" so expect a bit more of a crunch on the crust as well as some of the bite from a well-done pizza. However, I felt that it worked very well with the pepperoni and spinach pizza I ordered. The cheese was just right for me - nice and gooey - and the pepperoni and spinach was very fresh and done just right. And the crust had just the right amount of crispiness and flavor to tie it all together. I washed that all down with a nice pint of 'Ganset as why not (a pint of Narraganset or Natty Boh is just a little more than a fountain drink at $4) and they bring out a chilled glass for you to pour it in. I will definitely be coming back here as I want to try their thicker crust pizza or try one of their cheesesteaks. This has a great neighborhood atmosphere and so far great pizzas, too.

I have mixed feelings about rating a 4 or a 5, so I am rating higher for a few reasons. We went early on a Friday evening, around 4:30 PM, and the restaurant was busy. It's a rather big restaurant, and they are newly opened, so I think it's important to be understanding with service, process and timing. The service was a bit uneven, to say the least, but I felt like our server was also a little overwhelmed with how busy they were. We ordered more than what we normally would, because we wanted to try out different pizzas. We ordered chicken tenders to start. The chicken was good quality, they were cooked well and the coating/breading was flavorful. Definitely would order again. They have lots of sauce options, which is a plus! We ordered a circle white pizza, a circle buffalo chicken pizza and a spicy tomato pie. The pizzas aren't inexpensive, but they are big, were well cooked, and the ingredients seemed to be good quality as well. The pizzas are cooked on the well-done side, which we like. But, you should be aware. We would absolutely go back for the pizzas. The big problem we encountered was with the tomato pie. Pizzas came out pretty quickly, but the tomato pie was no where to be found. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we asked the server. She said they take longer to cook. Don't think that was the case here, but we continued to wait. After another 15 minutes the server asked if we wanted anything else, and we said we were still waiting for the tomato pie. She then went to the back. After another 10-15 minutes, it came out. It wasn't very attractive, but it tasted fine. We would have canceled it well earlier but one of our party really wanted to try it. Another server, but I suspect she was a manager or higher level, came and asked how things were. We were complimentary but also explained about the delay. She was apologetic and immediately took care of it. So, I don't think we could have asked for anything more. It was handled quite professionally. Atmosphere is lively, loud and generally fun. Kids are definitely welcome and there was a good mix of families, groups, couples, etc. I would not recommend for a quiet date night, but I think they hit the mark with their concept. We will definitely return and encourage folks to try it out. Overall the menu is great and has something...
