Alright. Look, Joe's Pizza in general... is an original New York City Establishment started by a Sicilian immigrant called Joe. So, to see Joe's make it to this point where there are now 6 locations in Los Angeles is pretty serious. So keep that in mind, the point of Joe's is not for it to be the best Pizza you ever had in your life. It will be good, you may believe it is really good, great, amazing and you might even believe it is the best Pizza you ever had in your life. But, if you know a thing or two about PIzza and have been around the block... you know what Joe's Pizza is.
Joe's Pizza is a standard bearer. It is an example of how a standard, straight up, no nonsense New York City Pizza Pie is like. Now that this established... if you are not familiar with New York Pizza in a way where you can tell the difference between it and other types of Pizza, you may not understand why Joe's is so good. This is Pizza for people who understand Pizza and want their Pizza well-balanced, delicious and with the "correct" crust and cheese and sauce to give you that example.
Now, are they the best New York Style Pizza in Los Angeles? No. Prime Pizza is the best New York Style Pizza in Los Angeles because it is a newer places that had time to learn from the OGs of New York Style PIzza that are here with us now such as Joe's PIzza, Prince Street PIzza and Village Pizza. I have been to New York and Italy and Chicago for that matter. Not only that but I tried 101 San Francisco Pizzas and became a Top P Reviewer. So, trust me. Joe's... is the Grandfather, okay? Prince Street is the Son or brother. Prime Pizza is the Grandson. Understand?
Another thing about Joe's Pizza, they have the reverse situation of Prince Street Pizza. Prince Street Pizza's Square Sicilian is their strength. Round NY Pie, their weakness. Joe's strength is the Round Pie all day. Sicilian is decent but it pales in comparison to their Round Pie. Their Sicilian is however better than Prince Street's Round. Here is the Ranking for Best Pizza only involving Joe's, Prime and Prince from best to worst
Prime Pizza Round, 8.1 Joe's Pizza Round, 7.9 Prime Pizza Sicilian, 7.8 Prince Street Sicilian, 7.6 Joe's Sicilian, 6.9 Prince Street Round, 6.4
New Yorkers like it kept real, right? Alright. Well, there you go. Keeping it real. Joe's should be proud of Prime Pizza if you ask me but who knows. Anyway. You want the most clean cut representation of New York Style Pizza in Los Angeles? Joe's is it, Jack. It's what Tony's is the San Francisco. Understand? Or not?
Another thing, the plastic wheel thing being lodged into the Sicilian Slice (see pics) and not used on the Full Round Pie felt both hilarious, troll-esque and a bit like a hate crime all at once. I’ll allow it. By it, I mean, the moderate abuse on the side of New York Style Pizza. However, Joe's... come on man, the Top P Reviewer graces you and you give the Top P Reviewer this? Look at the weird hole in the picture. Thousands will see you lodged the plastic wheel thing into a single Sicilian slice but did not use it on the full round pie. Why, Joe's? You filthy animals!
Use my scale to help you decide between the places and you'll see I am right give or take. You might change my 3 and 4 around but otherwise you'll likely agree.
Here is my proposal for Joe’s new ad campaign and rebranding. A little bit of a jingle if you will:
“Joe’s.
We’re Really Good New York Pizza. However, Prime Pizza is Simply Better At Both Styles of PIzza We Provide.
At Both Styles of Pizza We Provide.
New York Style or Sicilian It really doesn't matter Even though our Pies are good Prime Pizza is Objectively Better in Every Conceivable Way
At Both Styles of Pizza We Provide.
Joe’s...

Read moreJoe’s Pizza, located in the upscale neighborhood of Beverly Hills, offers a modest and straightforward setup—a small store with 2–3 tables inside and a few more outside. The ambiance is firmly on the lower end of the fast-food spectrum, not quite matching the premium surroundings.
We visited for a quick bite, opting for two slices. Unfortunately, most of the pizzas on display did not appear particularly fresh, and slices are simply reheated in the oven before serving. The taste was mediocre at best, and the experience overall lacked the freshness and care one would expect from a location in this part of town. The price, around $10 for two slices, was acceptable, but considering the quality, it felt underwhelming.
While I would assume that ordering a whole, freshly made pizza—either for dining in or takeaway—might deliver a better impression, for those dropping by for a casual slice, Joe’s Pizza does not live up to the expectations set by its prestigious address. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend it for a quick,...
