I’m a born and raised New Yorker . These bagels are not NY bagels . Way too large and bready. They do possess a kind of crispy crust which was interesting. POP Owners - note your bagels are not remotely similar to the beloved NYC bagels via H&H , Zabars or Russ and daughters . Your store is way too sterile, nothing warm or appetising . No scent of bread mixed in with coffee and smoked fish etc that makes one’s mouth water . Tall pristine counters , blocking the view of bagels , products and store clerks making food . Also crazy expensive . I bought a dozen bagels and a “pint” container of cream cheese for my co workers at the restaurant I work in … my bill was over 50 bucks !!!!! I gave you guys a shot . I’m going back to Bagel Brokers .its warm , lively , inviting and the owner comes out and says hello . Also a more authentic bagel .
Sorry …. Congratulations on your success, with the Angelenos that aren’t bagel officiantados . The New York ex pats know their bagels . I cook in a restaurant, so I appreciate any food business that gets off...
Read moreAs someone coming from a household with food allergies, we were disappointed by our experience this morning at Pop's. It was our first time here and we went because we have people coming over later and they make gluten free bagels. My family member has Celiac in addition to several other food allergies. We don't usually buy food out, but we thought we may try getting a GF bagel for them too. When we arrived this morning and asked if they could share the ingredients for the gluten free bagels, not only were the staff unable to locate the ingredients list, but they were poorly trained on knowledge of food allergens in general. Ultimately they were unable to help us and we decided not to get anything for that individual- better to be safe. This may be a fine bagel shop for individuals without food restrictions, but if you are one of many people with allergies, I do not recommend going here. We will not...
Read moreI don’t like this location at all. Staff is rude and not clean, unsanitary. Had a guy ring me up, and while wearing the same gloves he used to touch the register, he grabbed my bagel and put it in a bag, then put the cream cheese in a container. Who knows where his gloves were before that? In addition, I went into the store at 2pm, yes I realize they close at 3pm, but why did the cashier tell me I wasn’t allowed to order any sandwiches? You stop making sandwiches a whole hour before closing? Doesn’t make sense, and will not return to this location, and will advise my friends the same. Unsanitary clueless staff, and an establishment that’s not willing to serve...
