Here’s the thing: people are always quick to complain when they receive bad service, but not enough people take the time to shout out when service is this exceptional so this review is well-deserved a just a little overdue. Amari didn’t just serve us dinner, he created a moment we’ll never forget.
Let me just say… WOW!!!
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! My wife Selina made a reservation for my birthday dinner on July 25th at 7:30pm, and we decided to try Steak 48 in Beverly Hills for the first time. Let me just say we were blown away. From the moment we walked in, the energy, elegance, and ambiance set the tone for what would become one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.
But what truly took our night to the next level was our server, Amari. He is truly in a league of his own and a total class act. He was professional, personable, and so knowledgeable. We quickly learned he was also a sommelier, which made us feel a tiny bit guilty for ordering martinis instead of wine LOL 😂 but we were on a bit of a time crunch and had to pick up our baby from childcare after dinner. That said, Amari didn’t miss a beat.
Even without indulging in wine pairings, Amari’s food recommendations were spot-on. Every dish he suggested was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. We trusted him blindly, and he did not disappoint. You could tell he wasn’t just suggesting popular dishes he knew the menu intimately and understood what would create the best overall experience for us.
Amari made us feel like royalty from start to finish. It honestly felt like we were the only people in the restaurant with how warm, attentive, and intuitive Amari was without ever being overbearing. His timing was perfect, his demeanor was calming, and his service was so seamless it felt effortless. He elevated our evening from a birthday dinner to a luxury experience that we’ll never forget.
We’ve been to many steakhouses across the country, and this one takes the crown not just for the food, but for the people like Amari who make it unforgettable. We’re already planning our next visit, and next time we’re clearing our schedule so we can sit back, relax, and let Amari pick the wine.
Amari is a gem and made our special night even more special. Thank you, Amari, for setting the bar incredibly high!!!
If you’re going to Steak 48 in Beverly Hills, do yourself a favor and request Amari. He doesn’t just serve you a meal he curates a full-on dining experience you’ll never forget.

Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at your restaurant on my birthday. I usually never do reviews even if it were superb service. But today is the day as I can’t believe a birthday celebration at this restaurant was one to be remembered, and not in a good way.
When we first arrived, we were warmly welcomed and received great service from Mimi and Jose. However, shortly after a large party was seated next to us, the service to our table noticeably stopped. We were no longer checked on, drinks were never refilled, and we were completely overlooked despite it being a special occasion.
My husband had to remind the staff that it was my birthday. Sadly, there was no acknowledgment or effort to make it feel like a celebratory evening. After waiting without any follow-up, I had to ask if we were inconveniencing the staff just to close out our bill. This was disheartening, especially given our past positive experience dining there for our anniversary, when we were thanked for celebrating with you.
As we left, I brought this to the attention of Lalah, the manager on duty, who assured us that someone would follow up. We still tipped our server, understanding the demands of the job. The next day, I received a call from someone named KG, who asked about our experience. After sharing what happened, I was told the GM would return my call. As of today, May 9th, I have received no follow-up. At this point, I probably won’t. I don’t expect it now in consideration of the days that have past. Typically, restaurants with excellent service would want to make the dining experience right for customers especially the ones who have shared their experience then and there with their manager. Apparently, not Steak 48.
I am incredibly disappointed. Dining at Steak 48 is considered a fine dining experience, and with the prices that come with that, I expected basic courtesy and consistent service. Unfortunately, my birthday dinner turned out to be one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I will not be dining at Steak 48 again, as I believe paying customers deserve to feel acknowledged and respected—especially on special occasions.
A birthday to go down in the books and hopefully be forgotten. Thanks Mimi and Jose. You made this birthday memorable. Not...
Read moreI originally gave them 2 stars, but I'm changing it to 1 since no one has returned my call or responded to the review. I guess they don't care if people are getting sick. The only good points were the crispy shrimp and the key lime dessert . There was an off-menu dessert, and the server did not tell us about it. We happened to see it on another table and asked about it. One of the managers (I think) was nice enough to bring us a sampling of it.
My sister and I took our mom there on Saturday May 20th for her birthday. The petit filet was just ok. I've had way better at Boa, Mastros and basically every other steak restaurant. I can probably make it better myself, at home. Their cook is odd as well. They don't do the typical rare, medium, etc. The server had to explain to us that their temperatures are different from what is normal. The sea bass was good, but not amazing. Everything is a la carte, and way overpriced for the quality.
That said, none of the above is cause for my low rating. All 3 of us caught some kind of virus or parasite during our visit there. My mother got sick first, then myself and finally, my sister. That was the only place the 3 of us were together, so we are 100% certain that Steak 48 is the culprit. Whether it was cross contamination or a lack of sterilization or cleanliness in the kitchen or staff not washing hands, this is a serious issue. All 3 of us were violently ill for days...everything from fever and chills to nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Sorry to be graphic, but it needs to be said.
I called on Monday or Tuesday and spoke with Michelle, who assured me that the manager, Jimmy, would get back to me that night or the following day. Well, that did not happen. The fact that no one cared enough to return my call, knowing the subject matter, is super disconcerting and disrespectful. We are are better now but far from OK. It's now been 5 days and I'm still suffering. My poor mother was bed-ridden for 3 days. We're all at least 4 lbs. lighter and are left with tainted memories of my mother's 88th birthday.
Suffice it to say, we will probably not be back. It's a shame for such a beautiful restaurant.
Today is Friday the 26th, and I have not yet heard back from anyone! Tragic. I hope no one...
