This place is unbelievably good. My Gram lives in BH and this was my grandparents go to place for taking family and friends out for dinner. They know them. My grandfather passed and his waiter was at his funeral. He has since retired but there are still amazing waiters that really take good care of you. So the service is amazing. The drinks are also yummy. I ordered a lemon drop (or 2 😉 🍋 🍹) which was sooo good and my husband ordered a "Flawless" . So good. But my husband liked his first one better and I noticed there were fruit garnishes on our second round so the bartenders must have changed. My husband and I split a ceaser salad which we devoured. They split the plate automatically for us without asking and added black pepper to our taste. Perfect service. I ordered the salmon special which honestly the salmon was brilliantly cooked and yummy but didn't pair that well with the citrus dressing and greens topping it. I ate half of it and the rest of my grandma's John Dory. The John Dory is the best fing thing on this menu. You MUST order this dish. Or at the very least someone at your table willing to share. Thanks Gram! The sauce it's paired with is incredible and comes with the halibut too because my aunt order the parm encrusted halibut and she got the sauce. Hers was incredible too! Let's see.. My husband ordered a ribeye with mashed potatoes. Yes yes yes! I got one delicious 😋 bite. And it was the best bite ever. My daughter got a kids size steak filet and after finishing it she ate some of the ribeye. She is a sucker for good steak. My son got mac and cheese and he's a Kraft fan so he wasn't impressed with the rotini shape and sauce.. But we were! We took it to go and ate it later. It was tasty. My great aunt ordered a prawn pasta she liked it. I could tell she'd ordered it before. I saw another person with it too so it's a popular dish. Lastly on the food.. You'll definitely definitely want to save room in your belly and wallet for dessert, because this is where our Texas sized appetites were satiated. The portions are huge! We ordered a key lime pie, cheesecake and hot fudge sundae. My son got the hot fudge sundae (yes even after his meager attempt at his mac and cheese), but you have never seen a happier little boy in your life. There was a huge amount of whip cream atop the chocolate ice cream and then you get a little gravy boat full of hot fudge; he was having the best time pouring it on top. His face lit up! Get your child this sundae or be a kid again and get it for yourself. My aunt and gram shared with him but he ate a lot of it. My daughter and great Aunt shared the keylime pie and OMG ITS THE BEST DANG key lime pie you've ever had. And we've been the the Florida keys and had plenty of their pie but this was better. Even my husband who doesn't care for it as much as my daughter and I, loved it. The portion looked was 2 slices in 1. It's creamy and not too sweet and the gram cracker crust is just perfect. My husband and I split the cheesecake bc he loves cheesecake. It was dense and perfectly made. But I need more than the little strawberry puree they put on the plate. My husband is a purest and loved it as is. Any critique I have is really my own taste preference and not the restaurant's quality. I know from eating there before that they will adjust anything you ask based on your tastes. Pan seared vs grilled, more sauce etc.. I mean this restaurant is top notch. It's been my grandparent's favorite since my childhood. Things come and go in Beverly hills but this restaurant is a staple. You get what you pay for! This place is pricey but not in an exorbitant kind of way. You will be happy to pay the prices once you experience the quality of service and food and atmosphere. If you want a good dinner by Rodeo Drive, this is the place! People wear jeans and shirts here so no need to dress up but we always look nice when we go here. Takeaways: if you like seafood, try the John Dory. Dress nice but not up and order the key lime pie if you're a fan....
Read moreThe Grill, as it’s fondly referred to by frequent guests, is located in the heart of Beverly Hills. The iconic restaurant is known for the deals being negotiated by many of the entertainment industry’s elite. In the evening, The Grill has a more formal vibe. Instead of one server for your table, you have two staff members dressed in starched white jackets working together. Modeled after the Grills of the 1930s and 40s in New York and San Francisco, they offer classic American fare by trained professional and attentive servers in a dignified atmosphere. The Grill is famous for dishes such as pan fried John Dory, chicken pot-pie and their signature Cobb salad. The pan fried John Dory is seasoned with a lemon butter sauce and served with chunks of grilled vegetables drizzled in a balsamic barbecue sauce. The veal “Tomahawk” chop with sliced Porcini and Shitake mushrooms in a veal demi sauce. It’s served with a generous portion of smooth spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert try the classic triple layered strawberry shortcake made with fresh baked biscuits and a heaping of fresh whipped cream. The Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills was the first to open of its kind. From 1998 to 2008, the partners opened The Grill on the Alley in San Jose, Chicago, Hollywood, Dallas, Westlake Village and in Aventura, Florida. They also opened various Daily Grills and Public School restaurants. For steaks, chops, salads and classic fare, The Grill is a destination that will please all of...
Read moreWent there with a old friend and was able to get a table at the last minute which was great. Once there, we were treated very quickly and with a great waiter who was very helpful. We both ordered the surf & turf with the lobster tail and filet. I had mine with the ribeye. He came back to inform us they had only one lobster tail left, we were the last reservation of the night so it was understandable to run out. So for a fix he gave us each a half lobster tail and soft shell crab as replacement. Great idea he had and it was delicious and the portions were plentiful. Along with sides of Brussels sprouts, asparagus, baked potato and a salad. We ate like kings. Throw in some 7 layer chocolate cake and a key lime pie to die for we had zero room left for anything but conversation. A great evening and a nice walk around the area in beautiful Beverly Hills shopping district. Which at night is my favorite place in LA to walk around. With the lights on the streets and all those amazing storefronts we caught up on life events as we went to our cars to head home. All in all, the Grill On the Alley was the perfect place to have dinner and to see an old friend. Highly recommended for its great food and atmosphere. Did I say we closed the place and not once did they rush us out. When we realized we were the only ones left we graciously said thank you and exited so they could...
