I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, capturing the heart of traditional Irish charm with a contemporary twist. The rustic decor, along with the cozy lighting, immediately set a relaxing tone, perfect for enjoying a hearty meal or sharing drinks with friends.
What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and made to feel like valued guests. Our server went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable evening. They were attentive without being overbearing, offering insightful recommendations from the menu and ensuring our glasses were never empty. It’s rare to experience service so genuine, where you feel not just served but truly cared for.
As for the food, it was a true reflection of the quality and tradition of Irish cuisine. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of rich flavors and cooked to perfection. The Shepherds Pie was a standout. The pub’s selection of drinks, particularly their Irish whiskey collection, paired beautifully with our meal.
Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, I can’t recommend this place enough. The Dunn Barr offers an unbeatable combination of exceptional service, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for any occasion....
Read moreThe Dunn Bar is under new ownership and is run pretty well. The food is amazing. I got the fish and chips and the haddock was perfect. No fishy smell and the batter was light. The coleslaw tasted freshly made. My mom ordered the bangers and mash, which was equally as tasty. Food is 10/10. We also each order drinks (an Irish coffee and Ma Dunn’s Mai Tai) which were 100% on point.
Our server, Emily, could have been better. Forgot to put in our appetizer (which we were looking forward to). She also brought our check over without offering takeout boxes, any refills on drinks or seeing if we wanted dessert. When she did come to our table, she seemed less than thrilled to have customers.
The atmosphere here is really good. The front room is really loud, as that’s where the main bar is, but the second room is quieter and perfect for families with small kids or a nice date. It’s painted a warm, dark pumpkin spice colour which is comforting and doesn’t hurt the eyes.
Honestly, we’ll come back in hopes we don’t have the same server. The traditional Irish food is so delicious and there’s so much more I want to try, especially the Irish Brunch on...
Read moreWe were excited to try this new establishment in Biddeford and sat at the bar at around 4:30 in the afternoon.
The good: -It's cozy and has lovely decor. -While we didn't try the food, it looked and smelled amazing, and everyone we've spoken to who has tried it says it's really good. -We had two of the specialty drinks and they were excellent. -The server who greeted us at the door was very friendly.
The not-so-good: -The bar seats were so close together that it made it difficult to get in and out. -The drinks were very tasty, but small for the price. -Every person gets a glass of water. This doesn't sound like a bad thing, but if you try to decline, you are told (rather rudely - see below) that you don't have a choice; you MUST have a glass of water in front of you.
The bad (and the reason we will not be back): -The bartender is a condescending a** who needs to get over himself. He makes a good drink, but his attitude is abysmal.
Bottom line: If you do try this place, go for the food, maybe one drink, and...
