TERRIBLE
60 Min wait - 1 hour just for appetizers
Let’s just say the experience was not a great one. I’ve eaten at the other restaurants in your casino and they have all excelled, but Caroline’s fell flat last night. We were seated right about our reservation time and I had to stop and flag down a waitress to ask if she could find out who our server was tonight because we’ve been sitting there for 10 minutes and nobody had showed up to help us. Sarah finally showed up, flustered, bewilder, and maybe a little aggravated that she got another table that she wasn’t aware of, I don’t know. She was absent most of the night, It took us another hour to get our appetizers, which were followed by our main course within one minute. Sara just chose not to service, chose not to follow up or check in and basically she just didn’t care. It showed in her demeanor, her service and her attitude when she finally did show up. We had to complain to the manager twice to get things moving. I think Brennan was the manager and he was exceptional. He’s the one that saved the night. Even my guest that I brought with me commented that she was more absent than she was there. When she took our order for appetizers, she was gone for an hour. Never stop by to check up on us with any real intent. It was only once we brought the Manager in the food start ed coming out, you know it’s bad when you see table tables seated hour half an hour after you were and there are on their main course and you haven’t had anything to eat. I will say this I will not be back again. I was not impressed. Your steakhouse is an excellent example of how to run a restaurant, Carolines is exactly opposite of that. Your pizza and sandwich shop in the corner is more efficient in Caroline’s. If Sarah is the type of waitress, you’re going to have, then you have a losing business here. Update, one of my guest reached out to me this morning and let me know that when she got home, she had food poisoning was throwing up all night from the steak that she had eaten. Overall, the steaks were dry. You can tell they’ve been sitting...
Read moreBeing a New Orleans local I was very excited to try Coraline. Wa greeted by one of the rudest bartenders I have ever encountered. Instead of making us feel welcomed my cousin and I were immediately greeted with a firm, “if you don’t have a seat at the bar you can’t be served and you’ll have to get in line behind the couple waiting ahead of you at the other end of the bar”. It was extremely off putting considering he hadn’t yet asked us if we were just having a drink or dining. A few minutes later we were able to both get seats at the other end of the bar which was a relief hoping we would be served by the other bartender. When we were ready to order it was an apparent upsell by both bartenders that the special was a surf and turf and that we “needed”‘to order it as it was the best thing by far according to them on the menu. The meal was just ok as was the service and we were beyond shocked to see the meal we had been coerced into getting and luckily decided to share cost $350 for one serving. $350!!! Did no one think it was relevant to let us know ahead of time that the price of our meal would be anything near $350?? Completely unacceptable!! How could anyone in management think it would be ok to train your employees to push an entree with that kind of pride and not be transparent about pricing up front?? If this is the type of business you’re going to offer to customers I can bet you won’t be in business very long. Perhaps if you had bartenders with proper training and even moderate people skills this would never have been an issue. So I come into your restaurant, get a $500 bill and receive an attitude from your bartender, no thank you! Food is...
Read moreEntrance was pretty and you get transported into a quiet(er) garden-like, tea-party atmosphere. But don’t sit at this table in the walkway from the kitchen to the entrance. Waiters are swooshing me with their clothes; it’s an annoying seat. For food and drinks, The “where there’s smoke” drink is really good - I actually requested half maple syrup so it’s not too sweet and it was delicious. Hubby’s sazerac was served meat - just like they’re meant to be. The grilled oysters was excellent. Make sure to put a piece of bread on your plate and then take the oyster out on top of the bread. That way, you don’t lose any of those great juices. I even took a slice of cornbread and soaked up the juice that hubby lost lol. The cornbread is good - it probably ranks up there with some of the best breads I’ve had but doesn’t come close to Hestia’s Parker house rolls. But it did make me think of them which is a good sign, right? The gumbo was quite sad for $20. I found a couple of oysters and a large gulf shrimp. But I would say the Pappadeaux gumbo is way better. The Snapper Coraline was good but wow, so overpriced. I really don’t know why it was $54. It was definitely delicious but nothing special stood out to me. It was served with a creamy sauce with mushrooms, potatoes, and asparagus. And what cheapened it more was how another waiter (not our own) just plopped the dish on our table as he’s walking away. He didn’t even stop to kindly place it on our table. I felt like I was being served at some diner.
I don’t think we will return to Coraline’s. There’s a lot of seafood restaurants in the area that are more...
