Food was good. Simple menu: burgers, dogs, fries or chips. Fries were delicious. A bit overpriced ($26 for 2 drinks, 2 single meat burgers and 1 basket of fries). Menu at counter is a bit confusing with prices, so make sure to ask what's what when ordering. Very small dining area inside and some booths outside. Parking is limited. Many folks were parked at the bank across the street. Super friendly staff (3 that we encountered). Would eat again if it's in the budget. Drink fountain has RC products, including Cheerwine, also sweet tea is available.

A stop away from the mainstream. In a town known for being a stop away from being mainstream. Mac's is a small quaint place that only wants to serve great quality burgers and fries. Not over the top. But, this place is nestled in a regular street off the main drag. Which isn't really a big drag. Just a pretty cool mountain town. If you venture this way, you have to go all the wall. Order the Mac special. Something like a chili cheeseburger. You're welcome to bring your own beer. Have fun!

Hoping for a great burger and cheesesteak. Honestly, kind of let down. The burger was decent enough, but the cheesesteak lacked flavor, maybe I am spoiled having visited Philadelphia a thousand times. On top of that, the fries and chips were cold - I love both styles of fries and chips, such potential. I would think a small ma and pa, off the beaten path would have done better. Oh well, win some, lose some.

My family and I have been coming to Macs since Pam (the original owner) opened it 13 years ago. It was absolutely amazing and you truly felt like family every time you walked in the door. When she sold it to the 2nd owner, he was just as amazing. It’s now in a new owners hands and has been for a couple of years now and it’s been going down hill terribly ever since. This past Tuesday finally broke us from going. Whoever the “lady” they had working had the nastiest attitude and we even watched her argue with the owner over a to go order. To add the icing on the cake, they didn’t have drinks because their truck didn’t come in. So instead of going to the store to accommodate their customers, they decided to just not serve drinks. The food has also gotten worse and worse. It’s honestly sad because that once family feel is unfortunately looking like it’s...

We ate with Marco for many years at Marco's Pizza in north Asheville. Loved Marco and still love the pizza and other fine food served there. Now called 828 Pizza because of trademark issues. Marco "retired" for a bit, next thing I heard was he had bought a burger place in Black Mtn. My wife and I said for the past couple years when passing thru or by Black Mtn, "let's find Marco's place and have a burger"... Finally this week, we indeed found Mac's and had a burger. Marco remembered all our names and the three of us had one of the best burgers we'd had in years. In my opinion, much better that 5 Guys. We'll definitely go back to Mac's for a visit with Marco and enjoy the great food. Only wish we had a Mac's closer to our north AVL...

Food was phenomenal!! The place was beyond filthy! Dead flies on the window sills, some of the flies had dust on them, so that tells how often those are cleaned. Behind the soda machine I can't even describe the filthiness. Floors looked like they were not swept in days. I'm afraid to see the cooking area. Bathrooms were disgusting, my wife didn't even think about sitting on the toilet. Dirtiest place we have ever eaten! I suggest closing for 2 days and have a massive clean up session with your employees. I'm a guide on the French Broad River where tourist are always asking us where to eat. I so want to send people here because of the awesome food and I mean that but I will not send them to a place where cleanliness is only a word in...
