5120 Restaurant & Onyx Bar — Restaurant in Bloomington

Second time here, I believe in second chances-but never again. Positive- good wings. “House specialties” were food service level B. Only bartender working, so hard to get her attention at our high top. Couldn’t charge to room, “the program isn’t working.” Good beer on tap, but white wine was WARM. The worst was the atmosphere-it was awful for both our stays (2years apart) as it is an open concept area to a “game room” with pool table and foosball- and space to eat or lounge on sofas and relax with a drink. Both of our visits here were plagued by screaming during meals, not an exaggeration. I taught for 40 years, these were playground type ear shattering screams indoors, kids throwing pool balls and running, in an open area adjacent to a bar meant for relaxing. Both times our meals were spoiled by children not being controlled in bar/lounge area- breakfast was noisy, also. So much for relaxing after...

Booked my wedding here for December, 2020 and the paid deposit. I received no return calls after awhile about cancellation. I tried to reschedule until after COVID but was told to wait several times. Last minute I just cancelled but didn't even bother to reach out to the venue because they stopped contacting me about three months before my wedding date. I lost a lot of money on deposits because I cancelled everything at the last minute. My family was upset but there wasnt anything I could do. Beautiful venue, reasonable price. Too bad the communication was lacking. They also gave away the first wedding date that I booked with them. I had to email the manager several times to pay my deposit, communication lacked completely. Nestled away in the new Holiday Inn is this hidden gem. Where the Beers are frosty and the fireball flows like wine. Entering this elegantly appointed establishment, you will be received by the worlds best Bartender/Therapist, Jenn. For the price of a cocktail (which is very reasonable) she will help you get your life back on track. Thanks to Jenn's advice I followed my dreams and I am now a male model!!!
