Wishing I could give 4.5 stars, waffled between 4 and 5. Our waitress, Nandy, and the other young waitress there that morning were amazing - over the top friendly, helpful, fast. They made it such a sweet experience:) we even asked to switch tables to a more quiet out of the way table in the back and the immediately moved us without any trouble.
Really cute inside - sofa sitting area in the back and soft chairs up front by the window if you wanted to chill with your coffee, plenty of table seating throughout. The place isn’t huge, so I would call ahead to have them save you a seat if you’re on a time crunch.
The food was delicious - Nandy recommended the breakfast burrito and it was fantastic! My husband tried their specialty coffee and the breakfast with benefits, and loved it! I had the oatmilk latte - and while I appreciated that they had oatmilk, I probably wouldn’t order it there again.
Up front they had the sweetest area with locally made candles. The other girl waiting tables offered some suggestions and was really helpful. Loved the selection and ended up buying one for myself and one as a gift - loving them and the smell isn’t overpowering - but really fills the room.
It is in a strip mall, parking is free - we were able to find a space right away, I think even if it was really busy there’s ample parking.
We would definitely return - the food, the candles, the sweet waitress made this a really great experience. I thought it was a little pricey, but the quality was fresh and servings were...
Read moreOVERPRICED & AWFUL SERVICE - FOOD POISONING We went there for brunch. Walked in and nobody acknowledged our presence for a while, completely ignored even though they only had 2 tables that were busy. We finally got seated and were told they had no coffee beans so we could only order drip coffee. The coffee was very weak and had no flavor. When I ordered the frittata I was told they could not do it without onions because they make this in big batches (which indicates the food is not made to order). The prices are ridiculous for a small cafe, for example they charge $22 for shrimp & grits. I ordered a side of grits and 2 eggs. I asked if the grits was cooked with water, the waitress said it was, but I made sure to insist that I could not have milk or cream at all. We waited for about 20mn to get our food while we watched the staff sip on their iced coffees, chit chat, and the chef was standing there doing nothing but eat a bag of chips. The food finally came. The grits had a very tart taste and my eggs were not cooked the way I ordered them. Meanwhile, the place got really smoky and hazy from cooking fumes. Within minutes of us leaving, I was nauseous on the verge of vomiting and had stomach cramps. This is the indicator I ingested dairy. That server totally lied to me at my own risk of being sick from dairy. This is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous to overlook people dietary preferences when specified upfront. We will never go...

We were visiting the area for a getaway and checked out Yellowphant for a late breakfast since it had the best reviews in Blue Ridge for breakfast.
Charming little place. Not real big on the inside... maybe 15 tables. Order at the counter then delivered to your table. The staff was very friendly and were joking around with each other... always a good sign.
Everything seemed fresh made... nothing frozen or pre-made. We both got the Friends with Breakfast with eggs, hashbrown casserole, biscuit, sausage or bacon, grits, and a waffle. The waffle was good, but average. The eggs were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The casserole was light and well seasoned (i loved it) ... the biscuit was fantastic...served with jelly and real slices of butter.
The grits were a new experience though. I love grits, especially with a fried egg, but these were different. They are called Logan Turnpike grits. One of the owners(?), Ken, shared that they are labor intensive and requires a lot of prep. The texture was somewhere between stone ground grits and oats... but in a good way. We loved them enough that we bought some from a shop in town.
Anyway.... we loved our visit and apparently need go back for the famous potato soup!
Oh and the coffee was...
