I am a frequent visitor at Bennett's, one particular location, Fenway. I have had less than pleasant experiences there in the past, my order is almost always incorrect, but the food IS good so I decided to try it again. I met my wits end today when I placed my order online for pick up. When I sat down to eat my food at work , what I had ordered was not what was sitting in front of me. That's fine, we all make mistakes. Nobody is perfect. But for me to call back and have the actual OWNER of the store tell me that I am wrong and that my sandwich was made correctly because he watched the kid make my sandwich. I said "excuse me?" He told me I was lying. HAHAHAH, I asked him "Are you for real? Am I being punk'd right now? Where's Ashton?" He preceded to tell me what he THOUGHT was on my sandwich, and he couldn't have been more wrong. He told me the only item he forgot was the hot relish. I told him that he left out 4 of the 5 toppings I asked for and he said "No I did not." I told him Id come back and throw it in his face so he could see up close how wrong he got it. He says "I am not trying to argue with you" I said "But you are, you're telling me I am wrong, why do you treat your customers like that?" I just hung up the phone, needless to say I will not...
Read moreThis place is a very small storefront right in downtown in Portsmouth that you may easily miss if you are not walking by or found them online. Looking for a quick sub on the way home from the seacoast, I found Bennettâa online. What a gem of a find! It was quite busy, but that team is super quick. I got the classic Italian and it was ready before I had even fully settled into a quant table to wait. I took my first bite and I knew this was going to be my favorite sub shop. Iâve been back there 2 more times already. In fact, I fell so in love with that delicious soft bread that I went home, got an old hard cover school book, put a brown paper bag cover on it, and drew âI â¤ď¸ Bennettâsâ on the front with my multicolor gel pen. Then I proceeded to write over and over âMrs. Bennettâs Sandwich Shopâ with a little stick figure of me holding hands with an Italian sub. Yeah, thatâs right. I drew a hand on that Italian sub so I could hold it. Moral of the story, you really gotta try this place! I think youâre gonna really love it too. Thanks to the Bennettâs team for making one of the best Italian subs I have ever had in my life. (My Italian momâs...
Read moreThis is a pretty good spot to get a quick breakfast sandwich before work. They open really early (one of the earliest places in the neigborhood, really,) and they're quite reasonably priced for what you get. Their "famous steak and cheese" comes loaded with significantly more than steak and cheese, and is definitely a messy eat. Their steak, egg, and cheese is a cleaner act, though it's a breakfast exclusive.
These guys are most famous for their hot subs, and going into a restaurant for a cold cut sub is pointless considering there's a Star Market with a bakery and a fully functional deli a block and a half away. You can make your own cold cut sandwich for cheaper, I promise.
Overall, pretty great. They have their own brand of soda too (???) and it's pretty good (?????????) Quick tip - since they have Cape Cod chips, nobody's gonna judge you if you lift the top of your sandwich and sneak a few chips under there. It adds some good...
