After doing the Freedom Trail walking tour we found ourselves in the North End Little Italy area. We asked our guide for some suggestions and he mentioned Ernesto’s and that they sell by the slice if you want. He warned us that their slice was huge. We walked up to this very tiny spot on Salem St that had one huge bay window that was wide open. There are only 15-20 seats in this place. You walk up to the counter and they have Pizzas on display to choose from. We ordered a slice of sausage and two orange fountain sodas. Their one slice is actually 2 slices. It took only a couple of minutes to be ready and it was piping hot. We were lucky to find one tiny table in the corner. Pizza smelled amazing so I dug it. Amazing flavor. It’s not exactly NY slice thin but just a little thicker. Sauce, Cheese, Crust, and Sausage all on point. The orange soda was a great compliment. I had my wife try and she liked it so much she almost ate half of it. If this place was anywhere near me I would be in big trouble. Loved the pizza, location, and atmosphere. It’s for sure a must try. We saw a lot of folks taking whole...
Read moreGreat spot to grab a couple slices of great pizza.
Came here on a Thursday night for quick slice. Grabbed one slice (which is really the size of two) pepperoni. I'm super easy when it comes to pizza, and these did not disappoint. Pepperoni was nice and crispy, almost burnt, exactly how it should be. The pizza was on the cheesy/doughy side, so I'll knock the food down a star for that. If that's not your thing either head elsewhere or ask them to bake for just a minute longer, which I probably should've done.
The one (very large) slice plus a can of soda came to just under $10. I've no clue how that compares to other nearby places, but it felt in line (maybe a bit more?) with what I've seen elsewhere in the area/Boston.
The interior was exactly what you'd expect for a pizza place in the North End: minimal. A few tables and chairs, no frills. But it doesn't need any.
There's not much decoration on their walls, but I didn't these framed awards/"best-reviewed" signs from 2008 and 2006, which I found funny. I guess they've been making great pizza for at...
Read moreYou wouldn't expect anything great by just looking at it. Small, seems busy, not new. You would say a hole in the wall. Then you get to the counter and see all the selections of pizza they have. I ordered a plain pie and it's only $20. You could order a beer also if you want. Interesting. I paid the man and about 10 min later, he came with the pie. When i say this is one of the best pizzas I've ever had, I am not joking. I've had pizza in Italy, I make my own. So I'm from NJ so we have some really good pizza between us and NYC. This is up there with those pizzas. Great undercarriage, lots of semolina on it, no flop. Sauce is on the sweeter side but not overly which made it so good. Cheese is fantastic. Tastes like Grande but can't be sure. The people next to us had 2 meetball slices and they were commenting on every bite. They loved it. I would assume pizza this good should be closer to that $30 range. This is a steal. It is great, in the heart of little Italy. Can't recommend it enough. You're in Boston, it's worth a stop. Then head over to Mike's Pastry...
