I recently visited with my wife after seeing positive reviews on Instagram. We were curious about their matcha waffle and ice cream combo, which seemed particularly enticing.
Upon sampling, I found the waffle and ice cream to be satisfactory, though nothing extraordinary. However, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her waffle and thought the ice cream complemented it perfectly, showcasing how personal tastes can differ.
Regarding the cafe ambiance, we chose to sit by the large windows at the entrance, as some seats were unfortunately positioned too close to the restroom for our liking. The location next to the window was pleasant and allowed us to enjoy our treats while people-watching.
One area for improvement was the restroom. There was a sign on the door that was a bit confusing and left us unsure if the restroom was occupied. Assistance from the staff was unfortunately not as helpful as we hoped. Additionally, the hand towel dispenser was out of order, which was inconvenient.
Another note is that the music was a bit louder than I would have preferred, which made conversation a touch challenging. The crowd was primarily in their early to mid-twenties, and the cafe was bustling during our visit.
In summary, while there are areas for improvement in terms of amenities and staff assistance, the waffle and ice cream were enjoyable, especially if you are a fan of matcha flavors. The atmosphere is vibrant, which may appeal to younger patrons. However, if you're seeking a quieter experience, you might want to consider visiting during off-peak...
Read moreI really liked this place! Scrolling through their menu from a previous critic, I saw an option where you could get their signature cone with gold foil on it with a half and half twist of 2 of their flavors. I'm not a huge fan of matcha, so I was going to opt for the second option between the 2 twist options. As I'm about to order, I was disappointed to see that their twist options were matcha/hojicha, and ube/strawberry. I told the lady that I really wanted to try the ube and hojicha and she said she could do it but it wouldn't be a twist if that was fine with me? She put hojicha on the bottom and ube on top. The cone is massive, but it also wasn't leaking everywhere as soon as you got it either which was a huge plus for me. Both flavors were good but the hojicha stood out with its roasted tea flavor. The last time I had this flavor was in Japan and it was at a Starbucks. The flavor in the soft serve brought me back to that day and it was awesome! My only gripe about the place is their stools around the counter looking out towards the streets and corner it sits on. The stools are short compared to the counter height. I'm 5'4, and it made me feel like a kid the way the countertop was so high! I hope that a franchise like this will open in...
Read moreMatcha Maiko Melted My Soul and My Wallet (In a Good Way) I came, I saw, I soft-served. Let me tell you, Matcha Maiko is where your taste buds go when theyâve been good all year and deserve a reward. ⢠Soft-Serve Ice Cream (Matcha-Strawberry) â in a cup because Iâm not about that drip life. $9 for a swirl of sweet and earthy luxury? Worth every cent. This combo is like a rom-com in your mouthâmatchaâs the brooding hero, and strawberryâs the quirky girl-next-door. Together? A Netflix-worthy love story. ⢠Maiko Special (Hojicha-Ube) â A bold combo that had me questioning every boring latte Iâve ever tolerated. The roasted depth of hojicha meets the creamy, nutty sweetness of ube in a cup that tastes like a cozy campfire in a Japanese dessert cafĂŠ. Itâs the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, âOkay⌠so this is what inner peace tastes like.â ⢠Croffle with Mix Soft Cream, Strawberry Crumble, and Condensed Milk â This should be illegal in at least three states. Flaky, crispy, creamy, sweet, and slightly unhinged. I took one bite and ascended briefly before returning to Earth with sticky fingers and no regrets. Final verdict: My wallet cried, but my soul sang. 13/10 would Maiko again. Bring napkins and a sense of...
